Read on to learn more about Maroosh’s story
Q. How and why did you join Topcoder?
I heard about Topcoder from a fellow member Ahmad Elkhawajah “TC handle: elkhawajah” and he explained the model to me.
Q. What was it that first attracted you to the design field?
I used to love doing front end development work then I decided to enhance my skills in design and UX. So I started participating in wireframe challenges and made some good money while I was only trying to enhance my skills.
Q. How did you acquire the skills you needed?
I learned Axure for wireframe challenges from online tutorials and by playing around with the tool. Eventually after participating in many challenges I got the skills and began to win some challenges.
Q. What are you working on now that excites you?
I am currently a Studio copilot and I love it. We have a new program that I am managing for a customer now.
Q. What are your best words of wisdom for other girls/women starting out in design field?
Never give up! We have a lot of great designers/developers in this community and we will always have room for more great women to participate.
Q. What can be done to encourage more girls/women to pursue technical careers?
We can showcase their work in the community more.
Come to chat and congratulate Maroosh in our forums.
