Challenge Summary

Lending Tree is building an application for the Auto vertical division of their company. The application will provide users with a vast array of information about new and used automobiles. For this contest, you will be developing the HTML and CSS for the provided storyboards. The prototype should simulate the full functionality of the web-based application and match the provided storyboard design. If anything is unclear PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE FORUM! Entries must be your original work, and must not infringe on the copyright or licenses of others. Stock art, clip art, templates and other design elements from other sources are prohibited unless specifically permitted here in the Contest Details.


For this contest, you will be developing the HTML and CSS for the provided storyboards. The prototype should simulate the full functionality of the web-based application and match the provided storyboard design. If anything is unclear PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE FORUM! We are happy to help clarify any points that are not clear. Individual Page Requirements Homepage Page - The top section of the page contains four (4) buttons. The first button "New Car Loan Request" is colored differently to demonstrate a mouse over effect. The button will be a link to another page. - Update the Footer links to be Home, Auto Loan, New Car, Used Car, Auto Warranty, Auto Insurance, Research, Green Marketplace Vehicle Detail Page - The middle section of the page contains six (6) tabs starting with Spec and Performance. These tabs must be functional and all six (6) sections must shown when that tab is clicked. For this contest you can supply place holders for the main content of each section. - Update the Footer links to be Home, Auto Loan, New Car, Used Car, Auto Warranty, Auto Insurance, Research, Green Marketplace Notes: - Keep in mind as you code your pages the client wants the ability to easily brand the site with new colors, headers, and footers HTML/CSS Guidelines Your HTML should be structured so that there is a common structure for each page with common headers and footers. The content specific to each page will be inserted into a common section of the page template. - Your HTML code must be XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant - Validate your code - we will accept minor validation errors, but please comment your reason for any validation errors on a separate text file placed in your submission folder. Validate your code against this link http://validator.w3.org/ - Your code must render properly in Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and 3, Google Chrome and Safari in both Mac and PC environments. - Use CSS to space out objects, not clear/transparent images (GIFs or PNGs). - Proper use of structural CSS to lay out your page is strongly encouraged. - No inline CSS styles - all styles must be placed in an external stylesheet. - Use semantically correct tags - use H tags for headers etc... - Use strong and em tags instead of bold and italic tags - Only use table tags for tables of data/information and not for page layout. JavaScript All JavaScript must not have a copyright by a third party. You are encouraged to use your own scripts, or scripts that are free, publicly available and do not have copyright statements or author recognition requirements anywhere in the code. You are allowed to use the jQuery javascript library for this contest. Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following: - How closely the prototype matches the provided storyboards - How well items are styled that are not provided in the storyboards - Cleanliness and organization of source code Preview Image Your preview image should be a screenshot of one page of your choice with no added effects or skewing.

Stock Photography

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
