Challenge Summary

Ferguson is looking to rework their corporate website. This page is considered the "Gateway" into their company and they are looking for new and exciting ideas, designs and concepts from the Studio Community. Ferguson is a leading distributor of plumbing supplies and pipes, valves and fittings (PVF) as well as heating and cooling equipment (HVAC). In this contest, you will be creating the Flash file for the content area of the Ferguson "Gateway" page (Concept 2) based on the provided Storyboard Designs. This Flash area must be visually fun and engaging. The Flash animation should include innovative transitions and subtle yet engaging animations.
The Ferguson "Gateway" Page is meant to drive more traffic to the Ferguson stores/showrooms by creating an enjoyable online experience and give users the ability to find a Ferguson showroom quickly. For this contest, you must take the provided storyboard designs and convert the content area into into an exciting, fun and engaging Flash design. Your converted Flash design must be fully interactive, fully functional and must use ActionScript 3. Design and Interaction Requirements The client really likes the interations created in this Image Gallery Sample Link Considerations will be given to those designs that create an original Flash file but because of time constrants we understand if you need to reference the open source file. Please create a text file and cite its usage if you do use any open source resources in your submission. This project is for a demo/proof of concept so it will not be used commercially. - The created Flash design should look like the provided Storyboard. - The images should load from an external XML file - ActionScript 3 (AS3) must be used The Flash Content area should contain these functions - The photos will not contain movies - just photos - A user should be able to click and drag a Photo within the Content area - A user can double-click on a Photo and the image will enlarge. If a user double-clicks again the Photo will return to it previous position and size. - When an image is enlarged there should be navigation to proceed to the next image (closing the selected image and opening the new image) - The images provided for use can be cropped or even enlarged. It's okay if the resolution goes a little low as these are for concept only. - Any other transitions, interactions or animations are up to you. Selected Images & Captions Consider these captions as quotes, notations or comments from clients Sink5.jpg = Must have this sink in the guest bathroom! Appliance1.jpg = Big loads AND energy efficient. Bathroom1.jpg = I want a serene master bath. Kitchen8.jpg = This kitchen island is perfect. Kitchen9.jpg = Like the setup of a corner kitchen. Light3.jpg = A delicate alternative to a chandelier. Presentation Requirements The Flash design should be set within an HTML page of the provided storyboard design. The HTML file does not need to be fully interactive (just your Flash piece). The HTML file is needed to show the entire page design for demo/proof of concept purposes. - The Flash Design should be centered like the provided storyboard design - The HTML page should have a continuous background to fill the browser window The content area you will be creating in Flash is approximatly 940px by 338px (see provided Storyboard PSD) Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following: - The smoothness of the animations and transitions. - The creative approach considering the flash experience. - Retention of the visual design, layout and organization from the provided storyboard design to the functional Flash widget. - Organization and cleanliness of the Actionscript code. You MUST use AS3 in this contest. Preview Image For this contest, please use a screenshot that demonstrates some interaction or transition. Do NOT alter, skew or add dramatic effect to this image. The client will need to review the look and feel of the submission as is. Submission & Source Files Submission File One (1) SWF file embedded in one (1) HTML file and any/all files that are needed to make your Flash design work.
