Challenge Summary

This contest is to design the new Flash Skin for the Ferguson Video Player. In this contest, you will be designing (1) Flash Player Skin (the User Interface) that is designed to work with the provided Ferguson.com design. This contest will be run in the Studio Tournament format. Please read the contest specification and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this contest. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
Tournament Format This competition will be run as a two-round tournament with a total prize purse of $750. Round 1 At the end of Round One, Ferguson will choose Three (3) review winners; each will win $50 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in Round One will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $600 in prizes. Round 2 Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Three $50 Round 1 winners and the posting of their design reviews in the contest forum. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ We are now in Round 2 Congratulations Round 1 Winners on your $50 Prizes: 21103 - oninkxronda 21087 - JGeeks 21084 - sweetpea 21083 - djackmania 21074 - abedavera Overall Feedback - Please keep the design simple - this will be build as a Flash Player skin - Refer to existing flash player examples (youtube, hulu, tongal, etc) - We like the idea of the player opening into a modal window - Include the Ferguson logo but not the "elbow" graphic (icon) - Please see individual feedback ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Contest Details Ferguson has been creating a new website. The overall look and feel has been completed and now they are focusing on specific features of the site. Ferguson will be hosting videos on their website that shows their Products, Ads, Showrooms etc. This contest is not to redesign the Ferguson website features but to extend the provided design to the new Flash Video Player. The Ferguson Video Player is an important feature of the Ferguson website and it must be feature-rich and easy to use. Player Interface Requirements - Play, pause, stop, seek and volume controls - Time code display - Progress bar - Preload animation option - Full screen mode - 320 x 240 video (dial-up and high-speed bandwidth options) - Poster framing - Dynamic menu for selection of videos - Send-to-a-friend e-mail feature - Rotation of ads in ad space area - ads can be clicked to visit advertisers site (future add-on?) Research the Flash Video Player and skinning the Flash Video Player Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. Contest Deliverables Round One VideoPlayer.jpg = Your proposed Video Player skin Notes.txt = All comments, suggestions or explanations of your design for the client and any Flash Skinning research that is important to this project. Round Two VideoPlayer.jpg = Your final and completed Video Player skin Notes.txt = All comments, suggestions or explanations of your design for the client and any Flash Skinning research that is important to this project. Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 800x800 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. IMPORTANT - If you are submitting "small updates or changes" with multiple submissions please include in your notes file what is different or changed - this can be confusing to the client sometimes when they can't tell what is different. Source Files All original source files of the submitted ideas. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify content or overall color/graphics

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
