Challenge Summary

Aphaea provides agricultural energy audits to farmers across the country in order to identify for them the energy and money savings they could have if they invested in energy efficient equipment. This is done by the way of collecting data of the current standards and equipment which is then analyzed and fed into a comparative report which provides the possible savings information. The client currently generates those audits using Excel spreadsheets for the calculations and then puts the results from the calculations into a MS Word narrative document. Such a process is quite cumbersome, slow, and error prone. It is also repetitive but doesn't take advantage of possible computer based automation or more efficient data gathering techniques through a distributed interface provided through the web. There are two goals to the proposed application: 1. Turn this manual process of generating energy audits into a web-based system 2. Provide a system, which is flexible enough to accommodate changes to existing templates or event new templates and new report types without the need to delve into low level programming details. This contest is the continuation of the "Aphaea AutoAudit Wireframe Tournament". Aphaea is looking to the Studio Community to help them design the user interface and workflow of their new AutoAudit website. The goal of this contest is to produce Storyboards that accurately capture the website requirements and user flow so Aphaea has a clear understanding of their new website's user interface. This contest will be run in the Studio Tournament format. Please read the contest specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this contest. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
Tournament Format This Studio competition will be run as a two-round tournament with a total prize purse of $2000. Round 1 At the end of Round 1 Aphaea will choose up to five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $100 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1500 in prizes. Round 2 Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $100 Round 1 winners and their design review from Aphaea.
We are now in Round 2 Congratulations Round 1 Winners on your $100 prizes! 21629 - djackmania 21626 - puchki 21628 - leben 21623 -cardiboy 21630 -daddum Here are some things to keep in mind for Round 2 For the Lighting Input Sheet design: 1) Please use soft colors, like the ones that were used in the Excel version (however, you do not need to use the exact same colors if you don't want to) 2) We would like to see a screenshot of the Lighting Data Input Sheet with one of the hovering help comment boxes activated (refer to section 4.4.18 of the conceptualization paper). These comment boxes are built into the Excel file. 3) The data input forms will occassionally be printed by our Clients to fill out by hand offline, so please give consideration to how they print out. In Excel, the forms are set up to print out legibly on one page and have enough space to write into the cells. Other general feedback: 1) Don't be afraid to deviate from the wireframe if you want. If you think there is a better way to present the information or layout, be adventurous. If you see functionality descriptions in the Conceptualization Paper that you think could have been better interpreted in the wireframe, feel free to redesign them and exercise your creativity. This is particularly true for the *Manage Analysis Benchmarks* page, which we thought could have been better interpreted in the wireframe. 2) Some of you selected the wrong pages to design for Round 1. While none of your selections were problematic, it does help to have each contestant designing the same pages. If you have any questions about the pages, feel free to ask. 3) On the Admin Manage Client Reports page (the Audit List), do not include the "Close Account" button in the top menu, as it is shown in the wireframe. This button will only appear on the Manage Profile page, which is not one of the 8 pages included in this contest.
Challenge Based on the AutoAudit Wireframe contest, Aphaea would like you to design the look and feel (storyboards) of their website. Requirements The Aphaea company already has a static HTMLweb site for presenting information to their clients. This web site is provided as an input to this competiton, and users are encouraged to use the same colors, fonts, and overall tone of the web site. However, competitiors are still asked to find creative ways to storyboard the web site produced by the wireframe competition. The AutoAudit web site will be quite a bit different from the static HTML pages already in use by Aphaea. The transition from web site to new app must be a smooth experience, but competitors may modify the organization of the screen to better fit the contents of the wireframe. Some points to note: - This contest does NOT include redesign of any of the input pages - The current web page has a large top banner. While the logo needs to be displayed on every page, the banner is not required. - The logo size may be reduced if the the designer sees fit, but must keep the same dimensions. - The banner is not required, but if the designer chooses to keep it, he may reduce its dimensions or crop it. - The left hand nav links may be moved to a top menu and nested arbitrarily.
