Challenge Summary

Kopura is a soon-to-launch online community devoted to finding profitable solutions to global issues, especially by bridging developed and developing markets. The website design and implementation is nearly complete besides a couple look & feel items that our in-house talent needs some help with. Through this contest, we're looking to develop a masthead for the web site and corresponding skin.
This contest has been extended and you are now allowed to use stock art if you follow the instructions in red below. Attached to the contest is a current snapshot of a page on the website. The contestant should:
  • Design a masthead incorporating the name "Kopura" to replace the "Insert Name Here" banner.
  • Determine a matching skin to be used throughout the page.
When designing a skin, the layout of the page should be left alone. Items to change are:
  • Color scheme
  • Fonts
  • Background & border design
Deliverables: The contestant should submit:
  • An image file containing the masthead. The dimension should be roughly 750px by 100px.
  • An image file illustrating the page with the masthead and skin applied.
  • A document which describes the skin (i.e. html color codes, font names, etc).
  • Any other necessary files (i.e. background designs) needed to apply the skin.
Meaning of Kopura: The word Kopura is based on the name of a rural village in India. The village boasts an inspiring story demonstrating how solar energy installations in remote areas can be both profitable and socially beneficial. This story is very relevant to the aim of our company. Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. Other Considerations:
  • Uppercase vs Lowercase: Feel free to use KOPURA, kopura, or Kopura in the design.
  • While the name Kopura is based on a solar energy story, the website will not focus on a single issue, so the logo should be more generic.
  • The design should be somewhat trendy and sharp looking, but not very revolutionary - in other words, something that looks good and won't get old fast.
