Challenge Summary

The goal of this competition is to create a new, engaging design for the home page and inside pages of the Blessed Herbs Website. The storyboards should visually define the layout and full design of the website and submissions should include both a home page design and an inside page design. Blessed Herbs is a family run business which sells herbal products including bulk herbs, liquid extracts and cleansing/detox kits. We have been in business since 1985 and are an A+-rated member of the Better Business Bureau. This newly designed site will focus solely on our cleansing kits which represent a significant portion of our business. Please remember to submit UNIQUE designs - do not simply make minor modifications to our current sites or those of competitors.
Primary Goals for the Contest Blessed Herbs would like a new site design that:
  • Engages visitors to remain on the site to learn about our products.
  • Looks professional, but maintains the image as a family run business that can be trusted.
  • Evokes feelings like trust; integrity; nature; health and a general "down-to-earth," non-commercial feel.
  • Engages, but does not overwhelm the page - lets the content sell the products.
  • Is easy to read and navigate.
Target Audience While the Blessed Herbs products are sold to both men and women, the majority of buyers are women in their 30s to 50s. People buy the cleansing products to:
  • Resolve an issue they're experiencing (e.g. constipation, bloating, lethargy, allergies, etc.)
  • Remove toxins they feel could be harmful to their health
  • Lose weight (although not advertised specifically as a weight-loss product)
  • Use on a semi-annual or annual basis as part of their regular health regimen
Design Guidelines Please incorporate the provided Blessed Herbs logo in your design or create your own version of the Blessed Herbs' logo. The use of specific colors, images, graphics, etc. are up to the designer. Feel free to capture images and graphics from our current sites and incorporate in your design mock-up. Follow TopCoder guidelines when using images from 3rd party sites. For reference, please review the designs of current Blessed Herbs' sites by pasting the links in your browser. These sites are used for different purposes, but will be consolidated using the new design. http://www.blessedherbs.com/?sp=home (this is the original Blessed Herbs site) http://www.blessedherbs.com/bh/ (newer, revised site) The link below shows the layout of what we call the "blue" site. This layout has been most effective for us. While you do not have to follow this exact layout, we would like to see your design incorporate testimonials both on the home page and internal page designs, as well as the various credibility indicators (BBB, Truste, etc.). One thing we do not like about the "blue" site is the departure from nature. http://www.blessedherbs.com/b1/ (Blessed Herbs "blue" site) For reference, a link to one of our main competitors: http://www.drnatura.com (one of Blessed Herbs' main competitors - paste link in browser to view) Additionally, search Google for "colon cleanse" and view a number of our competitor sites listed in the "sponsored links." Our site design needs to differentiate us from the competitors. We do not want our site to look like affiliates or the many "slick" sites you'll see in this market. We want a site design that invokes trust; integrity; professionalism; nature; health; etc. The links below are examples of sites WE DO NOT want the new site design to look like. Paste these links in your browser to view: https://www.processcartcenter.com/Nzg4OHw2ODR8MzI3MDI4fHYy/ieken4b9/g http://www.ultimatecoloncleanse.com/30_day_trial/ Use the following as the main navigation tabs:
  • Home
  • About Us
  • Colon Cleansing Kit
  • Internal Cleansing Kit
  • All Products
  • Testimonials
  • FAQ
  • Contact Us
Also Include:
  • Cart button/icon
  • Wholesale login button/link
Logo
  • Use the Blessed Herbs logo provided OR
  • Feel free to improve/create your own version of the Blessed Herbs' logo. Separate source files should be included. No additional prize money will be awarded, but exceptional logo design could influence overall winners and/or additional design purchases.
Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork (icons, illustrations, clipart, etc.) is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. How do I Win This Contest? Important considerations to win this contest:
  • Provide a design for the home page and an inside page.
  • Use a Blessed Herbs' logo in your design.
  • Your layout should incorporate testimonials on the home and inside pages. Use the "blue" site as a general guideline for the layout, but feel free to improve and/or deviate.
  • You must include a graphic, banner or some other means of drawing visitors' attention to our 21 Day Free Trial on both the home and inside page designs.
  • Your design should invoke feelings of trust; integrity; professionalism; down-to-earth; nature; and health.
  • Your design should incorporate usability "best practices."
  • This is an ecommerce site, so your design must be engaging, but must not distract from the ability of the content to sell the products.
  • The design must be clean, easy-to-read and navigate.
  • Create a design that differentiates the Blessed Herbs' site from all of the others.
  • Your design should help sell our products.
