Challenge Summary

The 2010 TopCoder Open website needs to be awesome. To get started on the design, first we need to update the icons that we have. The goal here is to redesign the current icons, but keep the illustrations themselves intact. We also need two new icons created for two additional tracks in TCO10.
The 2010 TopCoder Open website needs to wow our TopCoder members, sponsors, and prospect clients. The first thing we need to nail down are cool, new icons to associate with each track of the competition. We love the icons designed for the TCO09 and want to reuse them, but we need the following changes and additions: CHANGES: - Please only use the illustration portion of the icon (the drawing itself). - Do not simply change the background of the icon and submit. - We're looking for a new representation for these icons. You can change the colors, treatments, background, layout, etc. - Take a look at the new TCO10 logo and keep those colors and shapes in mind when reworking these icons. ADDITIONS: We need two new icons created to match the others. They must represent the following tracks: - Design - Development We've providing the vector version of the TCO10 logo. Also, we have provided the vector icons from TCO09, except that the Mod Dash icon/illustration is not in vector and will need to be recreated. Design Considerations: The icons should be simple. They may be used in many different ways, so heavy treatments or gradients should be avoided. We really like the simplicity of the TCO09 icons, so try to capture that simplicity with your new icons. Target Audience: TopCoder and Studio members as well as TopCoder sponsors and potential sponsors. Judging Criteria: Icons will be judged based on the following: -- Simplicity - could these icons be used in both web and print? In different layouts? As a good resprensentative for their repsective track? -- Concept - while the icons should be simple, we're looking for something sharp and "cool." -- Cohesive - the new icons should match the set Colors: Use the colors from the logo or complementary colors. Do not use TopCoder or Studio colors to represent those tracks. Size: Icons should be created in VECTOR format and should be 100 X 100 px. Please place all of the icons into a 1000 X 1000 px JPG for your submission and show them on both a black and white background. Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1000x1000px JPG in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your icons within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in VECTOR with Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify colors.
