Challenge Summary

The Community Maps project is an innovative idea for building interactive communities around socially relevant mapping data and features. The community platform will include social networking tools that will enable the community to bond, grow and self regulate. The platform will also provide mechanisms to promote measurement, level-up goals, peer rating tasks, and a framework for incentives like prizes. Each community will create its own concept of roles, responsibilities, and entitlements that associate people, and process steps. The platform also includes an iPhone application which facilitates the capturing of community data. The main objective of the iPhone application is to create an interface for community members to be able to submit new information to their communities. The application will be able to read pictures and geospatial (GPS) data from the phone. It will also allow members to enter data according to any custom data schemas created by the community. The goal of this contest is to produce Storyboards that accurately capture the requirements from the previously developed Wireframes.
Primary Goals
  • Create storyboards from the screens in the provided wireframe.
  • Create a portal to the map community platform and communities centered around sharing content tied to maps.
  • Make it easy to find interesting map data and communities.
  • Make it easy to create and collect content to tie to map data within communities.
Target Audience
  • Any iPhone user who is interested in finding a particular type of map data (handicap accessible hotels, good fishing spots, etc.)
  • Collectors of mapping data who will compete for ratings, badges and other incentives within a community or as a whole.
The most important aspect of this contest is designing a very easy to understand user experience. The user should not have to think about what to click, where to go or how to find information. They should be focused on the products displayed and not the interactions themselves. Required Screens You are not required to design storyboards for every screen in the wireframes. Your submission must include the following screens from the wireframes:
  • View Maps
  • Content Detail
  • Choose Community
  • Perform User Movement Tracking
  • Tracking
  • Done Taking Photo
  • Photo List
  • Upload Content to Community
  • Add Content to Map
  • Rate Content
  • Modify Content
  • Associate Contents - Forum
Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs with your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com.
