TopCoder has recently introduced TopCoder Direct, which allows customers to directly engage with the TopCoder processes and community. It implies the ability to utilize the browser-based Cockpit tool to launch and monitor contests, view submissions, choose winners for competitions, and pay for and download finished products and generally manage a set of work within the TopCoder platform.
In other words, TopCoder Direct is the bridge between client and the TopCoder community that gives a customer ability to build software and complete design projects of any size or scope through competition.
We are going to move Direct(http://www.topcoder.com/direct) to HTML based platform. Before the prototype contest, we want to refine the storyboard of this applicaiton. This contest, aims design the storyboard for this application.
Round 1
At the end of Round 1, TopCoder will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $50 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in Round 1 will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1250 in prizes.
Round 2
Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and their design review from TopCoder.
The goal of this contest is to produce Storyboards that accurately capture the requirements from the attached Wireframes.
This competition is the first phase of the storyboard contest. The scope of this competition is :
- Landing page.
- Submission Viewer part.
And we will extend the winner submission of this competition to the overall application in the next phase's competition in future.
The target audience is both existing customers of Topcoder and prospective clients.
Design Requirements
- For this contest we are looking for a new design direction and overall look and feel to the site. We are looking for a professional and attractive look - more corporate, inviting, friendly.
- Create something new! - DO NOT COPY the current topcoder.com design
- The TopCoder corporate colors must be used (red, black and white). They are found in the current home page (www.topcoder.com). You are free to include any additional colors of your choosing.
- The page must fit comfortably in a 1024x768 browser with minimal vertical scrolling.
- Use the TopCoder Logo.
Design Considerations
- The page should be simple and not cluttered. It should be open with a lot of white space.
- The user needs to quickly understand who they are with respect to TopCoder (customer or co-pilot) and decide which path to take. Depending on who they are, it will lead them down a different path.
- Repeat... Keep it simple.

When a user comes to our application, they may be:
