Challenge Summary

The Fall Plan Resource Tool will be used to put in place the appropriate plan consisting of people, projects, and cost around a collection (portfolio) of projects. "Fall Plan" is an annual exercise that is conducted to estimate the number of employees that will work in a portfolio of projects for a given calendar year. In addition, project funding, utilization models and expense estimates are factored into the larger portfolio picture to ultimately determine the cost and budget for providing IT service to clients. The Fall Plan Resource Tool will help manage labor rates, head count totals, number of hours worked and project expenses. The tool will allow for user input as well as summarization and aggregation of data in tabular data reports. The application is broken into 3 discrete parts: Reference administration, project management, and reporting. Reference administration provides management of reference data for the given calendar year. Project management allows users to manage projects, which includes usage of reference data. Finally, the reporting part provides access to reports based on the projects managed in the previous part. This contest focuses on the web GUI prototype of the Admin/Reference screens.
Round One (1) For Round One please complete a first draft of wireframe pages for client feedback. The draft must include how the pages and fields fit into the general flow of the application. This first draft must be complete/coherent enough for the client to fully evaluate the entire grouping module page flow. Incomplete wireframes will not be eligible for any Round One prizes. These pages are required for round 1: 1)Funding Reference 2)Utilization Model 3)Reference Data Round Two (2) In Round Two we will need you to take the client feedback and provide final/complete wireframes. The pages from round 1 should be finalized. Any additional details/screens contained in the provided documents are required in this round: Please read the contest specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this contest. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums. Regarding the Rounds: ? To be eligible for Round 1 prizes and design feedback, you must submit before the Milestone deadline. ? The contest holder will announce Round 1 winners and provide design feedback to those winners in the forum after the milestone deadline. ? You must submit to Round 1 to be eligible to compete in Round 2. If your submission fails screening for a small mistake in Round 1, you may still submit to Round 2. A document has been provided that lists the pages needed in the wireframe as well as the fields that should be displayed on each page. The document also describes the flow between the different pages. This contest will implement a wireframe based off this description document that contains the pages in the list provided and the fields described in the document. Admin UI -- Web Screen List (more details in attached documentation) 1. Admin Menu 2. Funding Reference 3. Labor Rate Reference 4. Headcount Reference 5. Utilization Model 6. Reference Data Target Audience The audience for this UI is extremely web literate, and appreciates compact, streamlined screens with as little clicks as possible to get the desired data and reports. Judging Criteria We are looking for streamlined screens, no heavy graphics, no gimmicks. When looking at tabular data, any *simple* usability features are appreciated (think alternating color backgrounds on tabular data), click on an table heading to sort, and so on. We will be applying our own corporate standards to the GUI anyway, so please don?t spend time on colors, stylesheets, or fonts. They will all be changed up later anyway. We do have a sample spreadsheet which should be interpreted into a wireframe. Wireframe Resources Sample spreadsheet attached as contest documentation.
