Challenge Summary

We have a website navigation challenge that we would like you (the Studio Community) to help us solve. We just ran a Site Navigation Contest and would like you to help design the new navigation for the User Interface. Review the Navigation Wireframe Documents and then review the Ferguson.com web site. We are looking for you to apply this new navigation solution to the EXISTING look and feel. Feel free to redesign the Navigation/Page using the current Ferguson colors and design style. We are looking to see how this new navigation idea would work and if its a viable solution. Please read the contest specification and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this contest. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, The Client will choose five (5) Round 1 Milestone Winners, each will win $50 and a Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in Round 1 will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1000 in prizes.

Round 2

The Client will announce their Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and post their Reviews in the Contest Forum. The Client will also post any additional Contest Updates or Requirements at this time.
WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A NEW SITE DESIGN - JUST NEW NAVIGATION Please provide storyboard designs for: Home Home Page Homeowner Homeowner Home Professional Professional Home Vendors Vendors Home Changes from the provided Navigation Wireframe: Homeowner: - No links on the left - all the links will stay as they are on the current page - Include Breadcrumbs (Home > Homeowner) Professionals: - Links on the Left (see http://www.ferguson.com/professional.shtml ) - All third level links should go below their second level link (accordion style) example: Residential would have Plumbing, Showrooms, Tool & Safety, For Designers below Residential (not off to the right) - Include Breadcrumbs (Home > Professionals) Vendors: - Links would work like the Professional description above - Include Breadcrumbs (Home > Vendors) Questions to consider: - How would the new navigation look? - How does the top navigation work? Do you keep it as tabs? or create something else? - How does the left navigation work? Accordion slide up and down? - Is the design of the left navigation really thin? or does it line up with a grid? - What is a good navigation structure for this problem? (menu, tabs, links or combinations of different types?) - How do you keep the navigation simple for non-web savvy users? The goal is to provide your best design solution to the navigation. Target Audience: - Homeowner/Consumer/Remodeler - Professional - Suppliers - Investor - Career-seeker - Associate - People curious about Ferguson - We cannot assume they are internet savvy Judging Criteria: - How well you integrate the new navigation - How well you KEEP the existing look and feel - Overall graphic design quality of your provided solution Contest Deliverables Round One Home.jpg = Your submitted navigation page(s) solution for a review Homeowner.jpg = Your submitted navigation page(s) solution for a review Professional.jpg = Your submitted navigation page(s) solution for a review Vendors.jpg = Your submitted navigation page(s) solution for a review Round Two Home.jpg = Final Design Homeowner.jpg = Final Design Professional.jpg = Final Design Vendors.jpg = Final Design Remodelers.jpg = (Added page in Round 2) Final Design Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your submission within it.
