Challenge Summary

Within the referenced website are Specialty Resource pages that contain Articles written about specific topics dealing with plumbing, construction, remodeling etc. For this contest we are looking for Web Banners to be designed for the "Remodeling Resources" landing pages. These Web Banners appear at the top of the page and signal to the user that they are viewing the correct category of articles and related information.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, The Client will choose five (5) Round 1 Milestone Winners, each will win $50 and a Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in Round 1 will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $750 in prizes.

Round 2

The Client will announce their Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and post their Reviews in the Contest Forum. The Client will also post any additional Contest Updates or Requirements at this time.
For this contest we are looking for Web Banners to be designed for the "Remodeling Resources" landing pages. The Remodeling Resource pages are: Estimating & Appraising Green Remodeling Remodeler Solutions Remodeling Trends Technology We are providing the design of the "Green Remodeling" page to help show you the overall page design and the Banner area that needs to be designed within each page. The design of your banners should adhere to the existing look and feel (it must work and look good within the context of the existing page design). The banners should visually draw attention to itself on the page and tell the user they are in the correct area of the website. Banner Size Requirements - All the banners should be the same size (620x160px) Banner Details: - Left side content is the banner graphic (492x160px) - Right side area is used for video links (128x160) - All Banners should have room for Headline text (greek/make up the headlines) See "RemodelerLandingPage~Green.psd" (under the Red guideline layer) for Left/Right side relationship We are looking for (5) Five Banner designs - the sample provided is just a "Guide". The artwork should be geared towards the professional builder and the types of products used. For instance, technology would refer to state-of-the art products coming to market - like faucets, computerized appliances, new flooring types etc. NOT computers, hardware, software etc. Reference To get a feel for the existing design - here are some reference links: Home Page Professional Homeowner Vendors Target Audience: - Professional Builders looking for up-to-date information Judging Criteria: - How well you convey each Resource through your Banner Design - How well your Banner works with the existing look and feel - Overall graphic design quality of your provided solution Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG or PNG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered PSD files, AI or EPS files. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify fonts (sizes or colors) or modify overall storyboard colors.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
