Challenge Summary

The 2010 TopCoder Open is here! TCO10 brings together TopCoder members and Studio members alike to compete against the best of the best. We are looking for a banner to promote the generous sponsors and patrons of the TCO10 to TopCoder and Studio members.
The goal of this contest is to design a banner for the 2010 TopCoder Open for promotion of the TCO10 sponsors and patrons on the TopCoder and Studio website. Design Goals The design of this banner must use elements from the winning storyboard contest and the TCO10 logo. It should visually draw attention to itself on the page. You will be designing two (2) banners in three (3) sizes each. Please note that this banner will sometimes be alongside the TCO10 promo banner. Please make sure they compliment each other. You can view the TCO10 banner here: http://www.topcoder.com/tc Banner Requirements Size You will be designing one banner in three (3) sizes: 510px x 54px 340px x 76px 909px x 203px Required Content We would like two of the same banner designs that compliment the TCO10 promo banner with the following: Banner 1: Event Patron of the TCO10 (must use the NSA logo and the TCO10 logo Banner 2: Sponsor of the TCO10 (must use the Yandex logo and the TCO10 logo) - Please make sure the banner says 2010 TopCoder Open (or you can use only the logo for the text) The logos may be sized however you see fit in your designs as long as you maintain the correct aspect ratio. They may not be skewed, altered or have any effects added to them. The Patron/Sponsor logos should be the most prominent elements in the design. Remember, your banner needs to stand out. If you choose to use white as a background color, please make sure to add a border to your banner. Target Audience The target audience is TopCoder members, Studio members, sponsors, and clients. Branding Guidelines - Please use only the colors from the provided storyboard and TCO10 logo. - Please note this is our most elite tournament yet and we need something really awesome! Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following: Creativity -The banner should be visually exciting and engaging Execution -The quality of the graphics as well as following the provided guidelines Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place your submissions within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG or PNG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered PSD files, AI or EPS files. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify colors.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
