Challenge Summary

Vesta is looking to build an internal company web page that give their Marketing/Content Managers a single location to access the various methods/links of editing content for their assortment of internal and external web sites. At the end of this contest Vesta is looking to have a clear understanding of how their new "Content Manager Dashboard" will look and what the User Experience will be.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, the Client will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $50 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1000 in prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and their design review from the Client.
Contest Details The Vesta Content Manager site should be designed to allow additional information/links to be added easily (think modules). This new dashboard should be simple! and EASY to navigate. The main purpose of this site is for Content Mangers to quickly find a link to go and edit information quickly. Vesta Content Manager Dashboard The dashboard will consist of widgets/modules that the user can drag and drop on the dashboard. - example of dashboard modules Sample. - also igoogle is a good example. -Provide designs for the module controls and also any other JavaScript interactions you think might be useful. Content Links include: - Ferguson Online Outlet - Interwoven Teamsite - MDM Location Directory (with secondary links of "Staging" and "Production") - PDF Extract Each of the links would have a brief description or directions associated with them. Design Concepts It's very important to that this web page is easy to read - use proper font sizes and spacing. - Speed! - Legibility - Think modules Branding - Branding should be Ferguson - View the current site (Ferguson Website) - It does not need to copy the site exactly - this is an internal site and needs to work like an application. Please remember to submit UNIQUE designs - do not simply make minor modifications and resubmit. Target User - Marketing Content Managers Judging Criteria - How well you design the dashboard page - Cleanliness of your graphics and design - User Experience Contest Deliverables Round One Dashboard.jpg = Your submitted design solution for a review Notes.jpg = A file that explains your design and solution Round Two Dashboard.jpg = Final Design Notes.jpg = A file that explains your design and solution Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered PSD files, AI or EPS files. . Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify fonts (sizes or colors) or modify overall storyboard colors.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
