The www.carparts.com home page needs an update! Please submit your suggestions to streamline the search options and make the home page more visually appealing with new wireframes.

The CarParts.com home page is ready for a redesign. The Client has a few graphic updates in mind, but would like your ideas to streamline the search options. Graphics: The client would like to make a change to the FREE SHIPPING banner and the navigation tabs at the top. In your wire frame submission, please show the banner and tabs all the way to the left. The Search Box will have to be moved or removed to accomodate this change. The banner should be designed to offer two to three marketing messages. The main image space on the home page has not been getting many hits. The client would like to use this space for search options or marketing messages. Using the same space, show options to redesign the real estate of the main image with search options or marketing ads to improve click-thru to the rest of the site. The right navigation includes a search tool and an advertisement. The client would like suggestions on designing this space for advertisements. The original horizontal width will need to remain the same, but the vertical space can be changed as needed. The search tool can be moved per the Search instructions below. How can this home page use ads to drive traffic? Search: The site currently has four search methods. The client would like to combine or streamline these options. What are your ideas to make searching easy and effective for the customer? How should it be presented on the site? The current searches included: Find That Part Now - Currently in the upper left hand corner Shop by Category - Currently in the left hand navigation Shop by Make and Shop by Model - Currently in the left hand navigation Shop for Your Vehicle - Currently in the right hand navigation The client let us know that the most effective search currently on the home page is the Shop for Your Vehicle asset on the right navigation. Please streamline the many search options. Target User Car enthusiasts looking for specific vehicle parts. Wireframe Considerations The most important aspect of this home page is presenting the information for the customer to easily find parts using search options or Marketing ads. The resulting files are not critical in this contest. Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following criteria: - How well your wireframes provide search options and marketing messages to the end-user - How accurately and intuitively the data is represented - How well you implement the Graphic Updates and the Search Options (provide any notes or comments for the client) Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. Source Files All original source files of the submitted ideas. If you would like to submit notes please include ia notes.txt file. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify content or user click paths.

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
