Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Hestia B2B "Product Detail Page" Storyboard Contest. The goal of this contest is to produce Storyboards that design and capture the updated and enhanced "Product Detail Page" functionality. At the end of this contest the Client is looking to have an clean, intuitive, and easy-to-use design that meets the functional requirements.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, the Client will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $50 as Round 1 Milestone Winners. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1000 in prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and their design review from the Client.
Contest Details Hestia B2B is always looking to give their customers a better user experience. The B2B site/application currently has a "Product Detail Page" that lists out details about a specific product in the B2B catalog. The goal of this contest is to make user experience and design updates to the "Product Detail Page" that brings it inline with the latest industry "Bells & Whistles". For this contest you should do your research into current ecommerce best practices and research and analyze the supplied reference links. We are looking for a clean user experience and graphic design. Please reference the attached storyboards. Your new Product Detail page must work within this look and feel. Graphics and colors should be consistent across the site/application. Please pay attention to the details. Product Detail Page requirements: Product Description/Name Product Code Your Price List Price Quantity Add to Cart Add to My Lists Complete description including technical specs Catalog page the product can be found on CAD drawings Show previous orders when the product was purchased (currently "When Did I Buy This?") Replacement parts Accessories Recently viewed items Buying Guide Additional Product Codes Email this page to a friend Shipping & Handling Amount - Free shipping - Products over $100 ship free - Shipping weight (These are ideas to show shipping features - we are looking for your suggestion on the best options to include) Availability - Ships in X days - Sold at your local store (link to store?) - Online product only (These are ideas to show ways a product is available - we are looking for your suggestion on the best solution) Images - Main Product image - Zoom - View larger (and then zoom, grab image and move it in box) - 360 view - Additional images (for instance - settings displaying how the product is used in a room) - Video - Color swatches PDF's - Installation instructions - Specifications - Warranty Customer Reviews - Customer rating - Read review - Write review Similar product suggestion - Compare alternatives Merchandising - Space to show additional products or "Specials" etc. Icons to indicate - Water Saver - Green product - ADA compliant We are looking for enhancements and best practices on how the Product Detail page looks and is displayed within the B2B application. We want a site with rich product data. Target User - Users of the Hestia B2B Application - Assume Users know how to use the Application but are not necessarily web savvy. Judging Criteria - How well you design and update the Product Detail page - Cleanliness of your graphics and design - User Experience Reference Files - Use the provided color palette - Use the provided navigation design - Your design should work with the provided application screens Round 1 Submissions: Use Round 1 of this contest to ask the Client questions and try out your design solution with the Client. Stock Photography Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file -- NOT your Source folder/zip file. 2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed. 3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. Contest Deliverables Round One Product Detail Page = Your submitted design solution for a review Notes.jpg = A file that explains your design and solution Round Two Product Detail Page = Final Design Notes.jpg = A file that explains your design and solution Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered PSD files, AI or EPS files. . Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify fonts (sizes or colors) or modify overall storyboard colors.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
