Challenge Summary

PayPal Shopping (http://paypal-shopping.com) is an online portal where PayPal consumers can discover promotional offers from merchants, internal products from PayPal, and promotions from eBay. PayPal is looking to increase the number of transactions per user by expanding the ways and places to use PayPal. For this contest, you will be updating the design and navigation of PayPal Shopping to address the areas of focus, specifically the displayment of different categories of offers, improve nagivation around those offers, and improvement to the design of the Find Products (search) capability. Your solution should take the existing PayPal shopping design to the next level.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, we will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $100 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the five (5) $100 Round 1 winners and their design review.
Contest Background Information PayPal Shopping (http://paypal-shopping.com) is an online portal where PayPal consumers can discover promotional offers from merchants, internal products from PayPal, and promotions from eBay. All merchant offer placements are negotiated, manually uploaded and administered, and typically link to an affiliate network for tracking and revenue share. All visitors to the Shopping portal see the same set of offers; there is no segmented targeting. Goals For the next evolution of the site, PayPal is looking to make the following changes:
  • To include different categories of offers among their promotions - developer apps & smaller merchant offers submitted via self-submission. How will offers from these different categories be displayed differently on PP Shopping Deals page? How can navigation & discoverability be improved by including categories on the navigation on the Deals page?
  • To evolve and optimizing the navigation of PayPal Shopping to increase the discoverability of offers across all of the category pages.
  • To evolve the "Find Products" search capability with the inclusion the new categories.. This includes the gerenral placement and look and feel. How can its placement and function be improved in general?
  • To incorporate a ratings system for offers. How can users rate an offer?
How would you make these changes? PayPal is looking for an evolution on the current design - not a revolution or redesign. Focus your solution on addressing the changes & challenges listed above. Target Audience Existing PayPal consumers - Goal is to increase average number of transactions per user by providing relevant offers & ways to use PP. Design Considerations This contest is not a site redesign. It is to take the existing PayPal Shopping site and to evolve it based on the new criteria & functions documented here. Your solutions should focus chiefly on addressing these items. We are looking for idea & design solutions that best tackle the new site elements into the existing PayPal Shopping site. Judging Criteria Your submission will be judged on the following criteria: - How wel your submission address the required site modifications. Contest Deliverables & Submission You may submit/present your idea in any image format that you prefer. Just make certain to number your submssions in order of viewing process. The client is looking for 3 unique & new submissions - enter unique solutions often!

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
