Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Hestia B2B "Customer Demo Site" Storyboard Design & Planning Contest. The goal of this contest is to Design a new Demo site and User Experience for the Hestia B2B "Customer Demo Site". The Customer Demo site is where Hestia B2B Users go to view tutorials on how to use the Hestia B2B Application. At the end of this contest the Client is looking to have a clean set of Storyboard Designs detailing the new Customer Demo Site and any suggestions you might have in planning the User Experience. Read the Contest Details carefully and let Hestia know if you have any questions.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, the Client will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $100 as Round 1 Milestone Winners. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1250 in prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $100 Round 1 winners and their design review from the Client.
Contest Details Hestia is always looking to give their customers a better user experience by providing new and up-to-date features in their B2B Web Application. Over the last few months the Studio Community has helped Hestia create a new user interface for their B2B Application. Hestia now needs to teach all their customers about the new B2B User Interface and what new features & functions they will need to learn. Through the "Customer Demo Site" Hestia will be able to provide video tutorials about their B2B Application. Here is the current "Customer Demo Site". You will notice it is launched from the Hestia Sign-In Page. This "Customer Demo Site" is very important to the Hestia B2B Customer because it allows quick access to video tutorials about the B2B Application. For this contest we would like you to redesign the "Customer Demo Site" (based on the new Hestia B2B design), design the User Experience and also plan for how the video graphics might look. Contest Requirements - Redesign the Customer Demo Site - How should the tutorials look? Similar to how they are now? or in a Modal window? or video features like other sites? - What other items should this area contain? Any additional links or additional types of slideshows or screenshots tutorials? - Should there be mini video previews before opening the larger tutorial items? - Is there any type of JavaScript animation we should use? - What kind of page navigation should this area have? - What kind of navigation should be used to navigate the tutorials? - Review the graphics/instructions within the Tutorials - how can these be improved to work with the new Hestia site design? - These pages should look professional, look like they belong within the Hestia B2B Application and be easy to navigate. Research - Research online Tutorials, Research Video websites - Learn more about the Hestia B2B Application here. Click on "What is Ferguson Online" on the left side to see a video. Note: Your new site design will influence additional contests after this one. The goal is to run additional video/tutorial type contests through TopCoder Studio. Try and think of all the different ways this "Customer Demo Site" can be improved. Keep it simple! Do not over-design! Resources & Requirements - Reference the provided PSD files for the new Hestia B2B design Target User - Users of the Hestia B2B Application - Assume Users know how to use the Application but are not necessarily web savvy. Judging Criteria - How well you design and create the "Customer Demo Site" user experience - Cleanliness of your graphics, design and ability to relate your Storyboard design to the provided site design. - Usability Stock Photography
Watermarked comp photography from istockphoto.com is allowed in this contest. You must follow these instructions or your submission will fail screening: 1) You must include a completed Third Party Content worksheet. It belongs in your Submission folder/zip file - NOT your Source folder/zip file.
2) Only use photos, and only use them from iStockPhoto. Other iStockPhoto artwork is not allowed.
3) Be sure to keep the watermark intact. If the image is cropped in such a way that the watermark is not visible, please be sure to include the entire image in your source files so we can see that it is a comp image from iStockphoto.com. Contest Deliverables Round One Customer Demo Site Screens = Your submitted design solution for a review. Notes.jpg - Any notes, comments, suggestions you would like to share with the Client Round Two Customer Demo Site Screens = Final Design. Notes.jpg - AAny final notes, comments, suggestions you would like to share with the Client Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop and saved as layered PSD file. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify fonts (sizes or colors) or modify overall storyboard colors.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
