Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Hestia B2B "UX Updates" Storyboard Contest. The goal of this contest is to review the provided Hestia B2B Application screens and update the listed User Experience (UX) items. At the end of this contest the Client is looking to have a clean set of updated Storyboards capturing all the new page requirements and any new suggestions you might have to improve the User Experience. Read the Contest Details carefully and let Hestia know if you have any questions.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, the Client will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $50 as Round 1 Milestone Winners. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1000 in prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and their design review from the Client.
Contest Details Hestia is always looking to give their customers a better user experience by providing new and up-to-date features in their B2B Web Application. Over the last few months the Studio Community has helped Hestia create a new user interface for the B2B Application. Hestia now needs some small UX and storyboard design updates. As part of this contest we would like you to analyze the provided screens, update them based on the requirements listed and see if there is any room for UX refinements. UX Updates New Hestia B2B Homepage updates. - We need the Homepage layout updated (update 01_B2B-Application-Home.psd) - We need to blend the new look/navigation with the old content "guts" of the page - Remove the center merchandising area and add back in the "Start a Quick Order" and "Check Your Online Order Status" into the main content of the page. - See "old-home-wireframe.png" for information that needs to be placed back into the homepage. Auto-Suggest look and feel - We need to add an "Auto-Suggest" to the main Product Search - Try the search on these sites: reference 1, reference 2 - The Auto-Suggest Drop down should contain Categories for Product and Brands - Maximum of 30 in each category - Create how this should look - Research best practices - See the library here No Results Page - We need a "No Results Page" after someone does a Search - Reference the "04-B2B-Search-Results-List.psd" (use the Product Search, Cart, My Lists size/spacing from 01_B2B-Application-Home.psd) - Nice customer-friendly message with suggestions - Merchandising Area Update Guided Navigation - Research the Endeca Design Pattern Library and make UX recommendations for the Hestia B2B Application. - Are there any more creative tools that Hestia B2B could be using? (based on this library) - Create Storyboards using existing Endeca design patterns but in the Hestia B2B look and feel Reference: - Faceted Navigation: Link - Search: Link - Promotional Spotlighting: Link IMPORTANT - All page content areas should be 960px. Header and Footer should expand to 1024px Resources & Requirements - Reference the provided PSD files update them as needed to meet the requirements - DO NOT redesign the site - keep things consistent. Judging Criteria - How well you create and update the requested Hestia B2B pages and User Experience - Cleanliness of your graphics, design and ability to stay within the given design reference. - Usability enhancements Contest Deliverables Round One Update Homepage = Your submitted design solution for a review. Auto-Suggest = Your submitted design solution for a review. No Results = Your submitted design solution for a review. UX Recomendations Storyboards = Your submitted design solution for a review. Number your design (ex: 01-screen-name.jpg). Round Two All Requested Pages = Final Design. Submission & Source Files Preview Image Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. Submission File All Requested Contest Submission Requirements stated above. Source Files All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop and saved as layered PSD file. Final Fixes As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify fonts (sizes or colors) or modify overall storyboard colors.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
