Challenge Summary

TopCoder has recently introduced TopCoder Direct, which allows Customers, as well as Staff, CoPilots, etc., to directly engage with the TopCoder processes and community. It implies the ability to utilize the browser-based Cockpit tool to: - Launch and Monitor Contests - View Submissions - Choose Winners for Competitions - Pay for and Download Finished Products and generally manage a project within the TopCoder platform. In other words, TopCoder Direct is the bridge between the Client and the TopCoder Community that gives a customer the ability to build software and complete design projects of any size or scope through competition. We are moving Direct (http://www.topcoder.com/direct) to an HTML based platform. Now that we're just about finished the core baseline features of the new Direct site, the next step is to add some dashboard views to make it easier for users to understand current status at various aggregated levels and make decisions based on the current state of events. We are looking to create 3 views at each level of granularity: contest, project and enterprise. This competition focuses on create storyboard for views.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, we will choose three (3) Round 1 winners, each will win $100 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2 for the additional $1250 in prizes.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Three (3) $100 Round 1 winners and their design review.

DescriptionThe goal of this contest is to produce Storyboards for the TopCoder Direct Dashboard view page. DetailsWe will start from the attached draftPlease think about how a Customer will work with Dashboard View - What would you find useful You are open to use your design ability and input into how these screens will flow. 1) Contest level View This should be in the context of looking at a contest. It would be a tab on the contest view, but that's up to you, deisgner. For example, it could be a collapsible panel at the top where the current # stats are or it could be a completely separate page. The basic idea is that this page will be where the client go first most of the time when looking at a contest and then he can drill into the more detailed tabs. For example, if the client see an issue with the spec review being late in the Timeline section then he can click on it to go to the Spec Review tab. 2) Project level View This will be shown in the context of a project and summarizes the dashboard info from each individual contest in the project. Column A shows the aggregate contest status based on the status of each item. The aggregate status should also be indicated on the contest dashboard so a user can quickly see the health of a contest overall. The columns to the right of the contest name shows the health indicator for each section that is on the contest dashboard. 3) Enterprise level View This will be shown in the context of all projects and summarizes the dashboard info from each individual project. This should be shown as the default tab/view in the top level dashboard. Column A shows the aggregate contest status based on the status of each project. The aggregate status should also be indicated on the project dashboard so the client can quickly see the health of a contest overall. The columns to the right of the contest name shows the health indicator for each section that is on the contest dashboard.
The Chart(s) are intended to show a customer at the enterprise level some key metrics/indicators regarding their usage of the platform. The idea is that the chart will plot the customers metrics against the TC Platforms average, similar to how you would see a stock equity plotted against a benchmark. This will allow an enterprise to answer questions like "How are our assemblies performing compared to the avergage?" or it could easily point out room for improvement. The charts should ideally all the user to filter on time periods (year/quarter/month), show/hide contest types, show/hide metrics. This could be multiple charts instead of 1. That's up to you.
