Challenge Summary
This is a new studio client, looking to the Studio community to put a face on their internal tool. We are providing screens from the tool's wireframe and detailed design guidelines (including style guide)- the rest is up to you!
Round 1
At the end of Round 1, the Client will choose up to three (3) Round 1 winners, each will win $100 as Round 1 Milestone Winners. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in round one will be eligible to compete in Round 2.
Round 2
Round 2 will start with the announcement of the Round 1 winners and their design review.
CONTEST DETAILS
The basic use of the tool is this: The client is receiving media (film, tv series episode, sporting event, music event, clip or trailer, etc) that is playable on a television or computer, from multiple media providers. For each media item that is received, the client's employees must look at the data associated with that media item and compare it to other items already in the client's system - then determine which (if any) existing media it should be "associated" with in their system.
IMPORTANT! Understand that you are designing a work environment for employees, rather than an outward-facing consumer experience. That means:
- simple typography
- simple color scheme (primarily shades of grey)
- clear indication of actionable elements (buttons / links / icons)
- no photos or overly-complex graphics
GENERAL
All storyboard screens should be 1024px wide and the main content of the design should be 960px wide and centered. Height is open
You will find all of the specific design details for this contest in the provided download folder.
INDIVIDUAL SCREEN DETAILS
For this contest you will be designing 4 webpages and 1 login screen. For each of the 4 webpages, you will be required to show more than 1 view of the page, each view highlighting a different option on the page. The deliverables for this contest are 5 PSDs and 12 storyboard screens:
PSD A | Login (1 login box)
PSD B | Single Queue (5 queue views, each showing different div show/hide combinations)
PSD C | Suggest Matches, single column layout (2 match views, each showing different div show/hide combinations)
PSD D | Suggest Matches, split column layout (2 match views, each showing different div show/hide combinations)
PSD E | Search Results (2 search result views, one with pop up and one without)
CONTEST DELIVERABLES
Round One
You are required to submit your design for the following two (2) storyboard screens (PNGs) for Round1: C1-suggest_matches-default-view.png and D2-suggest_matches-split_view-show_filters.png
Round Two
You are required to submit your final designs for the required five (5) PSDs and fourteen (12) storyboard screens (PNGs) for Round 2
Preview Images
Please create your preview image from required screen C1-suggest_matches-default-view.png, saved as a 1024x1024px PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi.
Submission File
Zip file containing the required two (2) PNG files for Round 1 / Zip file containing the required twelve (12) PNG files for Round 2
Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Including five (5) individually zipped PSD files (ex PSD-A.zip, PSD-B.zip, etc). Notes:
- Source Files should be saved as layered PSD files
- If you create a blank / white layer at the very top of your file (so that no other layers show when this layer is visible) you will GREATLY reduce the size of your PSD files and reduce file upload time.
Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your source files. Also, If your PSD file contains "junk" layers, is not well organized or presents in a manner that makes the file less than useful to the client as an editable source file (layers have been merged incorrectly, are not grouped/labeled correctly, etc) you will be asked to repair the file in the final fix phase.
Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
