Challenge Summary

We want your help to create some application screens that incorporate  patient waveform data/charting. We’re looking for a design that is extremely easy to read with just a quick glance. We invite your questions and encourage you to bring all great ideas implementing the design requirement based on attached wireframe.

Always let us know your questions, we need you brings all great ideas implementing the design requirement based on attached wireframe.

Round 1

Initial design for client review:
1). Screen # 1 - View screen
2). Screen # 2 - Setup
3). Screen # 3 - Research
4). Screen # 4 - Nursing documentation
Submit each screens in a 1024X768 jpg at 72dpi resolutions.
You are encouraged to include a notest.txt document to explain your designs.

Round 2

Final Designs:
1). Screen # 1 - View screen
2). Screen # 2 - Setup
3). Screen # 3 - Research
4). Screen # 4 - Nursing documentation
Submit each screens in a 1024X768 jpg at 72dpi resolutions.
You are encouraged to include a notest.txt document to explain your designs.

Primary Goal
We want your help to create some application screens that incorporating some waveform data/charting. This app screens should allow configuration and export and facilitate caliper measurement. We need to have designs for the outlined screen below. You will be designing a total of four app screens (described in detail below).

There are three types of waveforms: BPM (rhythm), Pressure and Percent. Examples of the waveforms that may be displayed are:

- Heart Rate (Beats Per Minute)
- SpO2 (Percent)
- ABP (Arterial BP) and or NiBP (None Invasive BP). (Pressure)
- PAP (Pressure)
- CVP (Pressure)
- ICP (Pressure)
- Co2 (Pressure)

However, there could also be more than the examples listed above. Regardless, the waveforms will always be one of the three types (BPM, Pressure and Percent).

The objective of Screen #1 (detailed below) is to compare the 7+ examples of waveforms, over time, against each other. Screen #2 is a setup screen to configure order and which waveforms will be displayed for that patient and Screen #3 and #4 are export screens.

Design Consideration
The screens should be very clean and easy to read quickly. They should have a black background or a light background with contrasting color for data. Airstrip (http://www.airstriptech.com) is a good example. We like its cleanliness and how easy it is to see data and coloration. The contrast of colors is good, so a quick glance to an experienced user allows the Physician to see critical information about the patient. Current reading values should be easily visible in a high stress environment.

Screen # 1 - View
Screenshot: Image #1 in doc file.
- The waveform and current values screen. This screen shows the configured waveforms and the current values (Heart Rate, NiBP, CVP etc).
- Please provide us best color combination for each waveform
- Show us best position of values information
- Font typography must have clear contrast to be easily read at first sight
- NBP and Temp Celcius displayed in the bottom. Are they already in best position?
- Feel free to add any graphic/icon of your own design to help explains some status
- How do they gonna looks in landscape and portrait layout

Screen # 2 - Setup
- This page will show a setup screen to allow the ordering of the waveforms to be changed/configured.
- For an individual patient you may want to only display a certain subset of the waveforms.
- For a specific specialty you may need to reorder the waveforms. Please create notes.txt document to explain these scenarios.
- The setup screen allows you to select from the following list for a specific patient:
--- Heart Rate (Beats Per Minute)
--- SpO2 (Percent)
--- ABP (Arterial BP) and or NiBP (None Invasive BP). (Pressure)
--- PAP (Pressure)
--- CVP (Pressure)
--- ICP (Pressure)
--- Co2 (Pressure)

Screen # 3 - Research
Screenshot: Image #3 in .doc file
- The attached image is the best reference we have to this functionality. However, the reference image is showing the nursing documentation application. It is similar to what you must design, in that the main function is to select a time frame to archive. However unlike the nursing documentation screen you must select from the following options to archive:
--- Heart Rate (Beats Per Minute)
--- SpO2 (Percent)
--- ABP (Arterial BP) and or NiBP (None Invasive BP). (Pressure)
--- PAP (Pressure)
--- CVP (Pressure)
--- ICP (Pressure)
--- Co2 (Pressure)
- The ability to select an area of the waveform(s) to be archived for research or for nursing documentation.
- More than one waveform can be selected to be archived along with a time frame.

Screen # 4 - Nursing documentation
Screenshot: Image #3 in .doc file
- The attached image is the best reference we have to this functionality. However, in your design, the nurse must first select a fixed area of the waveform. Then she should get the caliper tool to take the following three measurements.
- When a patient event occurs the nurse currently must take a part of the paper print out from the strip, use calipers to make measurements. The nurse takes 3 measurements:
--- R-R Interval
--- PR Interval
--- QRS Width

For details see http://www.mauvila.com/ECG/ecg_fundamentals.htm These measurements will then be included with the image of the EKG strip and imported to the patient’s medical record.

Target Audience
Physicians, Surgeons, Nurses.

Branding Guidelines:
No branding guidelines.

Color :
High contrast design on either a dark or light background.

Judging Criteria:

- Easily and quickly readable.
- Functionally elegant.
- Help reduce errors and misreading of data.
- Minimal amount of tapping will be required for all functions.

How To Submit

  • New to Studio? ‌Learn how to compete here
  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.
