Challenge Summary
When a worker is injured on the job, they will typically file a claim with Soteria. Soteria will assign a number of staff to manage the claim while the worker receives treatment and until he or she can return to work. Soteria has an application called the Claims Management System (CMS) to help them manage all the information about a claim during its lifecycle, however CMS is difficult to use and it can be hard to find what you are looking for or to "get the picture" of a claim quickly. This difficulty is mainly because there is so much information available about a claim that is currently displayed in text on many pages.
Round 1
1) All these screens for round 1:
* Claim Owner view of a Claim Summary - Redesign the claim summary to more easily show what a claim is about at a glance. All information from the existing screens (Demographics and Summary tabs) should be available and combined in to a single view. You do not need to include actions, buttons or things a user would do - only output of the information in a visual manner.
* Claim Owner view of a Claim Summary Timeline - Information about a claim changes over time. Represent the claim as a timeline, showing what type of data changes, is added or removed and when.
* Claim Owner view of Entitlements Timeline - Show the schedule of entitlements and their information on a timeline. Show that the user can change which entitlements are visible based on "stream" or "type". There are potentially 700 entitlements that could show at once, so the user needs to be able to sort through or hide them as necessary.
2) Please number your screen (01, 02, 03, 04, etc)
3) Any notes for the client about your submission. This will help the client provide feedback.
Round 2
1) All round 1 screens with incorporated feedback.
2) Additional screens:
* Claim Owner view of a Contacts Timeline - Show the contacts that have been made on the claim over time. You should indicate visually what type of contact has been made.
* Claim Owner view of Best Practices Indicators - Show how actions or lack of actions that fall outside best practices would be highlighted in the views above and how claim owners could click to get information about the best practice that is not being followed.
3) Please number your screen (01, 02, 03, 04, etc)
4) Any notes for the client about your submission.
Primary Goals:
This contest is the first in a series of contests to redesign screens and views within CMS. The purpose of this contest series is to create new highly-visulized views of claim data that can give a user information at a glance, without needing to read a lot of text fields or click through many tabs to find the information they are looking for.
We are not looking for a full UI design here, we want to see the visualization of claim data and how the user might interact with that data to find what he or she is looking for (for example, navigating a timeline, hovering over icons for more information or filtering data or adding more data to the view).
The attached document provides a description of the current claims process, different roles involved and different screens (with screenshots) from CMS. We are looking for clean and intuitive ideas about how to visualize this information. There is potentially a lot of information on a claim, so you may need to be creative with how you keep it clean.
The exact screens to be created in this contest are listed in Round 1 and Round 2 descriptions above. Information about what information should be displayed in the views can be found in the attached document.
You can add as many alternate views of these screens as you want to explain your idea for how to visualize cleanly.
Design Consideration:
- Clean and easy to understand, not cluttered. If something is blank or not applicable in CMS then it probably shouldn't be shown at all - use your best judgement.
- Highly visual, use icons to represent information whenever possible instead of text.
- If there are ways to interact with the visualization (such as filtering data or navigating timelines) it should be clear.
- Feel free to add new graphics and any ideas to support your storyboard.
- Keep things consistent. This means all graphics styles for all the pages should work together.
- Put your design on 800 x 600 px resolution.
Target Audience:
Soteria employees managing the claim.
Branding Guidelines:
No logo or placeholder is needed for this storyboard.
Judging Criteria:
Your designs will be judged on the following:
- How well the graphics/visuals capture the business case.
- How well the graphics/visuals present information cleanly and clearly.
- Overall high quality graphics.
Submission & Source Files:
Preview Image
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.
Submission File
All requested contest requirements/screens as JPG or PNG files. Use any provided templates.
Source Files
All required screens stated above and all original, layered source files of the submitted design (PSD or AI).
Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors. Note that your source files should be logically organized and clearly labeled for client editing - If they are not - you will need to clean them up during final fixes.
Details:
Size:
Please create the screens on 800px x 600px.
Font:
Fonts are open to the designer.
Color:
Colors are also open to the designer. We recommend 2 main colors and 2 secondary colors with a consistent color for highlighting/grabbing the user's attention.
Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
