Challenge Overview
Handshake (Elgg based) is a research prototype for business networking run by the MITRE Corporation, created to support valuable relationships between current employees, industry, vendors, academia, sponsors, former employees, and other FFRDCs. Handshake helps MITRE bring the best talent to bear on sponsor problems of critical national importance.
The goal of the project is to create a mobile app as an extention of Handshake. The users should be able to use Handshake on their mobile devices as if they were actually on the website.
First iteration target platform is the iPhone. Eventually, client will want a version for Android and Blackberry as well.
That said, Strategies around using multi-platform frameworks (like PhoneGap, etc) to produce the same output are welcome and would be more desirable provided that the following conditions are met:
1. Using a multi-platform framework will not add extra scope nor time to the project. (the basis being the development of an iPhone app)
2. The framework should be able to meet all the functional requirements of the project.
Stragey docs will weigh heavier on the decision than the Gameplan.
