Challenge Summary

NoNameSite.com received an upgrade.  We have added "pop-up" style tips, trivia and did-you-know? content to the site.

You can see the "Did you know" widget on the homepage of nonamesite.com

The purpose of this is to advertise interesting facts about technology a fun, frequent, un-obtrusive way.  The users are 13 to 18 year old US students.

If the user sees a topic that interests him or her, he/she will click on it to learn more; in this way, we will learn more about the types of topics that interest the users.

In this contest you are asked to provide ideas for the type of content you feel should be displayed.  We are open to buying more submissions beyond first through fifth, if we like them.

Note:  We have run a similar contest to this in the past.  Submissions from that previous contest will *not* be accepted here.  We are looking for new ideas that target general technology, not necessarily Computer Science.  These should not necessarily be "geeky", but more general knowledge about technology.  Creativity is key here.

Here are some details on how the feature will work:

1.  We display a very brief one or two sentence "teaser" message

2.  The user can click on this message to read more about it, about one paragraph in length, in an overlay.

3.  If the user wants to learn more, he or she clicks a "Learn More" button, which takes them to a blog.

The submission document type on this contest is MS Word, but PDF is also acceptible.  Please feel free to include any images you feel helps make your idea interesting.  Submissions with images are preferred over those without

For #1, assume a maximum length of 140 characters.

What to submit:

Submit a document that addresses each of the following:

1.  A description of your tip, trivia or did-you-know in 140 characters or less

2.  A description of how your topic relates to principles in general technology, and/or how it relates to/enables a particular field

3.  A few sentences (we prefer more) of the content that should appear on the overlay mentioned above; this will help us understand your idea better.

Optionally: references for more information.

Final note: historical facts/tips are perfectly OK, but we would really like to see things that will surprise our users.  For example: "The average car runs on millions of lines of computer code"  (may not actually be true but it gives an idea of what we are seeking)

Target Audience The target audience is 13 to 18 year old student members of NoNameSite.com.

Judging Criteria For the 140 character descriptions, we're looking for very "catchy" and interesting (likely to appeal to our NoNameSite members) ideas and descriptions. For #2, we're looking for an explanation of how your idea ties into our theme of explaining the principles of and raising appreciation for general technology, not necessarily computer science. For #3, the paragraph-length description, we're looking for depth on your 140 character introduction. The submissions that meet these criteria best will be selected.

Submission & Source Files Preview Image Submit a screenshot of your idea written out.

Submission File MS Word or PDF. See "What to Submit" above. Must be written in English. There are no hard and fast rules for your submission beyond this. Feel free to include supporting material to help explain your idea.

Source Files Same as submission.
