Welcome to Kratos Status Report Illustration Design. This contest is to design a Status Report for printing. The client will update regularly with changes to the content.

Contest Details
Kratos is our NEW client and this is Kratos' first contest in Topcoder Studio. They need to test the design capabilities of Topcoder Studio. So, please bring your creative ideas that will impress them! Kratos is looking for a Visual Design of a Status Report for a UX group. They are looking for something flashy that is easy to read. As it's for a design group, it needs to have a high quality design.

Design Considerations

- The amount of data on the Status Report will change over time. We need some nice designs that can be flexible to handle more or less text.
- We are looking for creativity and originality. Feel free to add original graphics or other stock images to your design.
- With some table of data on the page, the design must display an excellent use of typography. The text information provided may be reorganized to suit your layout. Again, be creative!
- Provide us with the best practices for how the Status Report should look.
- Design should capture attention from a distance, and then the viewer can come in close and read the specific info as stated below.
- The design must look magnificient on paper print.

Design Requirements

- Media: Designed for paper in a 11x17 size or two 8 1/2 x 11 sheets (can be printed front and back).
- Font: Fonts are open to the designer.
- Color: Open to the designer.
- No gradient restrictions.

Status Report Sample Data

Title:

- (Do not display the word Title)
- What's Happening in UX (Need use a catchier title)

Date:

- (Do not display the word Date)
- Current week (e.g. October 31, 2011)

Team:

- This section will have three categories of team members:
--- Company
--- Contractors
--- Partners.
- Each category would have 1-5 names

Project Engagement
- This section should include the title Project Engagement
- Data varies between 4-6 projects.
- The types of information for each project include:
1. UX Strategy
2. UX Team
--- # of roles will be between 5 and 8

3. Key Activities/Areas of Focus
--- # of key activities per project will be between 1 and 5

4. Areas of Concern
--- # of Areas of Concern will be between 1 and 3. Each area of concern will have between 0 to 2 actions
- Need some visual indicator (green, yellow, red or an icon, or any idea?) to indicate how the project is going.

Coming up

- (This section should include the title: Coming Up)
- Intent to describe what is planned for the next 90 days
- 4 sections titled: Previous last month, 30 current month, 60 next month, 90 following month (example October; 30 (as an image) November; 60 (as an image) December; 90 (as an image) January)

3 Year Plan
- (This section should include the title: 3 Year Plan)
- Intent of this is to describe the focus for the current year and following 2 years
- 3 sections titled FY12 – Foundation; FY13 – Optimize; FY14 – Accelerate
- Each section will have varies key topics and subtopics. Each section should can handle more or less text.

- Keep things consistent. This means all graphic styles should work together.
- All of the graphics should have a similar feel and general aesthetic appearance.

Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Source Files

All original source files of the submitted design as required by the contest, such as layered EPS, AI or InDesign files with 300dpi resolution.

Final Fixes

As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
