Challenge Summary

We want you to develop a new TopCoder Community landing page that focuses on getting people to join TopCoder. Think about why YOU joined TopCoder. How is being a TopCoder member valuable to you? Make this page speak to others about the benefits of becoming a member.

The new page will be community.topcoder.com. (Currently that URL redirects to /tc). We want this page to be attractive and simply communicate the value in joining TopCoder.

Round 1

At the end of Round 1, we will choose five (5) Round 1 winners, each will win $50 and a Design Review. These winners and any member who had a passing submission in Round 1 will be eligible to compete in Round 2.

Submission design for client review. Feedback will be provided to Round 1 winners when the round is complete.

- Design a new TopCoder Community landing page.

- Provide any notes or details about your design. This will help the client provide feedback.

Round 2

Round 2 will start with the announcement of the five (5) $50 Round 1 winners and their design review. Feedback for final fixes will be provided to winners when Round 2 is complete.

Submission design for client review:

- Design a new TopCoder Community landing page.

- Provide any notes or details about your design.

Please read the contest specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this contest. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

The goal of this contest is to create a new landing page for TopCoder’s community sites. We would like the following items on this page, but not all are required. We want to see a range of ideas, so if you think including a graph helps your design, please put one in. If it doesn’t, that’s perfectly fine too.

Required items:

  1. The primary goal is to get people to join TopCoder. Think about your own experiences with TopCoder and use them to help you create the landing page. You may use the attached copy or write your own. You may use or create your own images. Be creative!
  2. Design a call to action and registration form. This form has the minimum required fields: https://www.topcoder.com/reg2/ (captcha is not required)
  3. Provide a login for current members to use.

Additional items:

Create the look and feel of a graph that shows Membership Growth and/or Membership Payments from the beginning of TopCoder in 2000 to present 2011. Data will be dynamically generated, so the data in your graph does not have to be accurate. The graph should look professional and be easy to understand. If a Membership Growth or Payments graph doesn’t work with your concept, you can try using other information such as, number of contests, types of contests, etc.

Design Considerations:
Be creative! Encourage people to join TopCoder. The page should be clean and professional, and have the same look and feel as the main site: www.topcoder.com.

Size:
Your design must be exactly 1024 x 768.

Color:
Colors should match the main colors of the TopCoder website: red, black, white, grey.

Target Audience:
Potential TopCoder members

Judging Criteria:

  1. The landing page should focus on getting people to join TopCoder.
  2. Call to action and registration form.
  3. Login for current members.

Preview Image:
Create your design as one (1) 1024x768 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi.

Submission File:
Low resolution JPG, PNG files of your layout.

Source Files:
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered PSD, AI or EPS files.

Final Fixes:
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify layout, fonts (sizes or colors) or overall colors.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.
