Challenge Summary

Welcome to USPTO Innovation Challenge - Logo Contest.
The US Patent and Trademark Office(USPTO), together with the NASA Tournament Lab, is launching a contest to develop new algorithms to aid in patent review. For this contest you will be designing the logo for the contest.

The USPTO is challenging software developers from around the world and the Top Coder community to develop specialized algorithms to help bring the seven million patents presently in the patent archive into the digital age. The challenge will require advanced knowledge of text recognition, image analysis, and the construction of bounding boxes. We also challenge researchers from the academic community to apply their knowledge and skills in text recognition, image analysis, and the construction of bounding boxes to this real-world problem to make the content of patents more accessible.

Please read the contest details below, and feel free to post your questions in forums.

Primary Goal:
The goal of this contest is to design a sophisticated logo to represent the new USPTO Innovation Contest. This logo shall be featured on NTL Portal(http://community.topcoder.com/ntl/).

Please use the following notes below as your inspiration. We would like the logo to represent:
- USPTO as repository for innovation
- Innovation
- Technology

Logo Requirements:
- Content: The logo must say "USPTO Innovation Challenge".
- Logo must be 2-3 colors of your choice and you may include black and white as well. Colors on logo design must be in CMYK color mode
- Please stay away from gradients, as they will not be able to be easily reproduced across all media.
- You must show your logo on a white and black background.
- You must identify your colors theme in the submission.
- Fonts are open to the designer with exception of the Bank Gothic family. All non-standard Windows fonts must be listed in a text file within your submission folder. Include the name of the font and a link to where it can be downloaded/purchased. DO NOT include any font files in your submission or source files.
- Designs must be created as VECTOR artwork so they can be resized without a loss of quality. Make sure your logo quality is not diminished when scaled up or down.
- The logo should not contain any reference to the NTL or Harvard (any links provided is just for reference only).
- Here is an example logo the client look for : http://community.topcoder.com/alcatel/100-apps-in-100-days/ (Remember : this is only an example, we want your idea and something new and fresh).

Target Audience:
- People from the TopCoder community
