Welcome to TopCoder Labs Naming Contest! In this contest we are looking for alternative names for http://www.topcoder.com/labs/ website.


Project Overview

The idea behind TopCoder Labs is to open up the platform to allow companies (and possibly individuals) to leverage the TopCoder platform and community to build their application, and to have the members who worked on the application SHARE in the value generated by that application. For a client, it means the ability to build an application with a minimal up-front investment. For members it means moving beyond simple monetary prizes for their work, and optionally giving up the immediate monetary compensation in return for a potentially bigger upside.

After the application is completed, TopCoder will be involved in the application's lifecycle to the degree necessary for tracking generated revenue (or other forms of value created). TopCoder will then pay members who worked on that application proportionally to their contribution. This is analogous to what TopCoder already does with royalties on generic components, but in this case applied to an entire application. TopCoder, in providing the platform and subsequent revenue management, will also take a portion of the revenue sharing.

Goals and Requirements

The goal of this contest is to come up with a unique name alternatives to "TopCoder Labs". Some requirements to consider :

  • The name should be consistent with the concept of sharing risk and investing effort to share in potential future revenue.
  • It is not required (but it is allowed) that the name includes the word "TopCoder".
  • It is not required that a .COM or other URL be available for the name, but it is preferred if the domain name is for sale and is entirely standalone such that people will probably look for it as an independent .COM domain.
  • We need a great, short, brandable name .. Nothing long and complicated.
  • There is no specific words or phrases we like/hate, this is completely up for your creativity.

 

Some tips for success :

  • Read the conceptualization document and summary of the TopCoder Labs carefully.
  • Ask questions in forum to clarify things that are not clear.

Target Audience
The target audience is TopCoder customers, potential customers, TopCoder members and potential members.

Judging Criteria
You will be judged on your creativity and uniqueness of your name. The winner is solely select by clients. Please provide the detailed description of your idea(s) so that we can fully understand.

  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
