Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Styx iPhone Video Application Storyboard Contest, the objective of this contest is to design the iPhone screens of Styx Mobile Video Application based provided HTML wireframe. Styx provides enterprise solutions for video monitoring, they produces many hardware products for video surveillance inside and outside homes, buildings, and offices. The Mobile Video Application purpose is to provide a remote video monitoring on smartphone and tablet devices.

At the end of this contest, the client is expecting a great iPhone app designs that are ready for to be built using the PhoneGap mobile framework.

NOTE: This contest will be run as a private competition. This means all documentation and forum discussion will be private and only available to members who have signed a CCA.

Primary Goal & Design Considerations

For this contest, your task is to design the screens of Styx Mobile Video Application based provided HTML wireframe and with the features outlined below.

You need to design the screens for iPhone Application in both orientations (Portrait and Landscape). You will also need to design each of the required screens in TWO (2) sizes:

  • 320 × 480 pixels (iPhone)
  • 640 × 960 pixels (iPhone 4 with Retina display)

You are expected to produce both sizes independently - ie do not just shrink the graphics from the larger size to the smaller size, unless there is NO perceivable loss of image quality.

You can find an excellent resources of iPhone templates here (you may find these very useful, but do NOT submit your designs in these templates):

Requirements
The following are the screens needed, you need to explore the wireframe (phone section) for the details of its functionality:

  1. Login and Forgot Password
    - each screen should have a version with error message - need to design the Forgot Answer screen as well

  2. Multi-View Screens
    - need to design the Device list and Camera list screens as well
    - single tap displays the Device list
    - tapping "Choose" button from Device list will display the Camera list

  3. Single View Screen
    - need to design how the Title and Bottom bars appear/disapper.
    - need to design the popovers on the buttons in Bottom bar

  4. Favorite Cameras
    - these are list of users' favorite cameras

  5. Gallery
    - these are snapshots images of video frames
    - need to design the Capture Single View as well including how the Title and Bottom bars appear/disapper.

Branding Guidelines
- For this app, main color theme is "green". Please see the private forum for the exact colors - You are free to come up with your own vision for the app based from the wireframe and native iOS GUI and standards

Judging Criteria
Your submission will be judged on the following criteria:
- How well your design follows iOS Standards specifically the iPhone
- How professional your UI is designed, consistent and clean and creative.

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submission File
Please upload PNG 24-bit images in a zip file with all requested contest requirements stated above.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and saved as layered PSD/AI files.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
