Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Vitality Mobile Application "Concept Design" Contest. The goal of this contest is to create some initial design concepts to kick off our mobile application project. We are at the beginning of this project and would like to rapidly design and prototype this application. This first contest is to focus on the overall application features and functionality. Based on the provided application idea, what is your recommendation for the application functionality and user click-paths?

Round 1

Your submitted design for a review.
- Initial design concepts
- Work through the scenario - show us how you think this app should work
Notes - Please tell us your thoughts around your design concept.

Round 2

Your final design for a review.
- Final design concepts
- Any updates noted during the milestone

Contest Details
Humana Vitality is a wellness solution that uses an incentives program to motivate people to achieve their goals. Part of the program is rewarding users for completing goals and activities. Users participate in activites (ex. running race) and need to submit "evidence" of the activity. The current process for submitting evidence involves faxing or scanning items. Vitality would like to design a mobile application to improve and enhance this user experience.

Concept Design
This is a "Concept Design" contest. We would like you to focus on the overall Vitality mobile application and how a user would interact with its features.
- What should the user click-path be?
- How would a user login and what do they see first after logging in?
- What is the fastest way of taking a picture and submitting the evidence?

Your design doesn't need to be perfect - help us understand how a user will use this application and what we need to focus on. We will run a follow-up contest to refine and design the actual layout into wireframe and final storyboard designs.

This contest is exploring the different features and possibilities - show us your design concepts!

The Humana Vitality solution is explained here:
http://www.humana.com/vitality/corporate/.
- We are not looking for a brochure site but a mobile application that users will be able to use

Application Details
The main feature of this application is allowing a user to:
- Take a photo
- Or scan? (with the mobile camera)
The idea is a user will take a picture/scan their "evidence" - their proof that they participated in an event and it will then be submitted to their account.

Evidence/Proof =  A photo will satisfy the “proof” of an activity, and could be anything from the bib/label from a marathon/5K run to a picture of a document (sports league schedule, CPR certification, etc.).

Basic User Flow
Reference Vitality-POC-Screenshot.zip
- User downloads the app
- Set up by Logging-in (first time only) with myHumana id. (goal is login once)
- Select an activity from some options to submit.
- User see specific categories and the data elements (reference Vitality-POC-Screenshot.zip)
- Complete necessary fields.
- Take picture of evidence.
- Submit
- Receive confirmation of submission and expectation of Points Award.
- Show us clear way to navigate through the application from screen to screen and the screens themselves should flow together in a logical manner.

Design Notes
- For this contest focus on designing for iPhone screen size and resolution (vertical layout is fine)
- We are not looking for perfection - show us your concepts for this application (through graphic design)
- Remember when you create graphics for a mobile site, all UI elements must have fluid width, so it will support any layout (horizontal & portrait).
- Branding is not overly important at this point – we just want to see a proof of concept to see if this idea will work and we’ll go from there.
- This is a "mobile application" - so it should NOT look like a web page - think of application interactions!
- Major buttons and links should be large enough and spaced out enough to ensure that the correct item is selected each time.
- Research Safari iPhone and Android browsers guidelines for size and best practices, here are some helpful links:
