Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Styx - Configuration Utility Wireframes Contest, the objective of this contest is to create the HTML wireframes for a Windows application to be implemented using C#.NET with WPF. Client is looking to create a new desktop application to replace an existing application that was written in Delphi, the purpose is to improve the UI and workflow and switch to new technoligies. This application will be used to configure file alarm networks.

The main goal of this project is to deliver an efficient graphical solution for configuring and checking workability of fire alarm systems. The application has to provide:
1. Simplified GUI for regular users and most typical situations,
2. Highly productive screens for quick usage by experts in very large hardware systems.

Round 1

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • We want to see how the UI defines a new workflow and how the tasks can be completed, please focus more on high level application flow and less on low level details.
  • This is a desktop application, web style interface won't apply.
  • Do not replicate the existing UI, the client wants something new, something that will bring totally different workflow as described in the conceptualization spec.
  • There will be many options to be shown and thus a metro style UI will not work, please think of something different that will work efficiently.
