Challenge Overview
Develop and Test teams need a way to populated DB2 tables with known data. Most processes are complex and require significant data extraction/transformation for both positive and negative testing. In some cases, a significant volume of data is required for testing, i.e. thousands of rows. The user will be allowed to create, modify existing or delete data from table(s) with this tool. We need the ability to allow users to enter table(s) data in a Lotus Symphony spreadsheet and process that spreadsheet with a JAVA program. The program will run stand alone either from a user's laptop or on AIX server. The result of the processing will be updating one or more DB2 tables.
A successful submission of this event will be an efficient/user friendly design of this process. It will detail the spreadsheet requirements and the design of JAVA program to process the spreadsheet. JAVA program must be designed with processing efficiency and ease of maintenance as a consideration.
