Challenge Summary

Welcome to “Styx MCS Upgrade - Web Thin Client Storyboard” contest. The client of this project is a company that  produces many hardware products for securing access to doors and gates. There is an existing system that allows to manage products in the manufacturing facility. The system is called MCS. The project goals is to create the new MCS application that deliver an efficient modern solution for managing manufacturing products according to the customer’s orders and for administering manufacturing management application. The new MCS application will be divide into two application which are Thick (Desktop) and Thin (Web) application. This contest goal is to create look and feel for Thin (Web) application based on our Thin wireframes page.

At the end of this contest, our client expecting clean and strong design that present best customer experiences to their application user.

The New MCS Application divide by two part of application which are Thick and Thin Application.  The Thick (Desktop) and Thin (Web) will handling two different function, which are :

a.    Thick (Desktop) Application, Thick application will be used by the company workers, this part of MCS application have functionality to manage the security of products manufacturing process on the manufacturing floor. This application also will be use to programming/verifying of manufactured products according to the customer orders.

b.    Thin (Web) Application, Thin application will be used by the company supervisors, this part of MCS application have functionality to manage administration of the orders and manufacturing process.

In this contest, we’re only need to create look and feel for several pages in Thin (web) application using our existing wireframes as your references.  Here are the page list that needs to be create :

1. login page/ error login page
2. dashboard (along with hovering condition design for "custom date range" and chart hovering)
3. users list page (only reset password popup)
4. create new user page (including popup confirmation that user was added)
5. user details page
6. order list page (with import orders popup)
7. order details page
8. new order page (click "add item" first)
9. edit order page
10. add new customer (all tab)
11. returns history
12. reports page (with "generate" pop up, choose "order is complete")
13. carton details (choose "failed carton")

Branding Guidelines :

Font : Open to designer, do not use too many font in your submission, stay consistent, make sure the font is available and ready to use, be aware of your font deliveries, IMPORTANT, if you don’t have permission to distribute the font, send us some notes in your submission folder explaining where we can purchanse the font, otherwise your submission will be rejected.  

Color : Open to designer, but limit your color choices into 3 primary color and 3 secondary color.

Size : The storyboard size should at least support monitor with 1024px resolution. You are free to create it as fixed or fluid size.

References : IntraNetScreenShots.zip and company_logo.zip, this files contains screenshots of another web application that running in our clients company and their logo, we want you to use it as your references in terms of user experience that user usually saw.  we want to see a storyboard that can make our user feels comfortable and familiar with the new application once they use it. You can use the logos in your submission but you MUST NOT use any elements from the screenshot as part of your design. Please create all layout elements by your self.

Judging criteria :

These are the judging criteria for this contest, which are :

1.    Any idea that can enhanced the application usability, make sure add some notes in your submission folder explaining what kind of idea that you’re offering to our client to increase good user experience and simplify their customer interaction with the application.

2.    Design skill, how well you applied your design skill into your submission and showing some professional design result and looks comfortable for human eyes . This judging criteria including the sharp and cleanliness of your submission, your color combination choices, your font size and type choices, how well the storyboard presenting our client company brand, and how well your submission can make user comfortable using the application .  

3.    Submission Structure, You must arrange your submission layer in ordered list, we need it to be arranged according their place and their functionality, for example header should be included in header folder, footer, content, sidebar, title, logo, etc. It is required so our user can easily found some elements from your submission and replace it if we have any additional change in the future.

4.    Completeness of the storyboard, you are required to complete the storyboard, it means any information from the wireframes should be included or modified (if you have an idea) to your storyboard. You must send all screen that required as stated in Studio tournament format, if your submission not complete, we will reduce your score.

Target Audience :
Company supervisor, This user will use Thin (Web) Application.

Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPB or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submissions within it.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your storyboard

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
