Challenge Overview
Architecture Artifact Factory
Aegle has the need to expand the capacity of its architecture staff, in particular, with regard to creating architectural artifacts.
We would like proposals for organizing a simple “factory” whereby roughly presented data models would be instantiated as Sparx EA data models, and in some instances other artifacts converted into Sparx models. The initial step will focus on logical data models. However, consideration is being given to expand into rendering other artifacts forms such as activity, data flow, and business process diagrams.
- The participants in this model would need to use Sparx EA to produce these Models.
- The input to the process would be in a number of forms.
- Schemas (xsd) or xml files
- Photos of whiteboard sketches
- DTD files
- Excel spreadsheets listing data elements
- In simple, cases it is recognized that the input will not be sufficient to produce finished Logical Data Models. However, if supplementary documentation accompanies the file it is expected that data modeling and other architecture principles will be applied.
- This may be an iterative process i.e. Aegle architects may, upon reviewing a pass at constructing data models (or other artifacts) will resubmit requests for expansion, refinement or integration into larger models. A proposed method for easily supporting this iterative operation will be part of the contest.
- Winning co-pilot would run the factory competitions to produce desired output.
- Examples of inputs supplied.
