Challenge Summary

Welcome to TopCoder Marketing Postcard Design Contest.
Through a gathering and a conversation on-site, TopCoder marketing team come to a conclusion that there are six specific comparisons and major differences between crowdsourcing (like TopCoder as a Community Development platform) and outsourcing. 

At the end of this contest, we are looking for a creative and appealing postcard design that will describe all of these 6 differences. 


Primary Goal & Design Considerations
The goal of this contest is to design a postcard design that will contain six (6) differences between outsourcing and crowdsourcing model. We are looking for a creative and apeealing postcard design. 

Important:
- We provide a documentat containing the 6 Important diffence between crowdsourcing and outsourcing (see pdf attached). Please read the document to get a better illustration about what we trying to accomplish here in the postcard design.
- We provide a postcard template for you to design this postcard. Please use this template and be aware of the bleed or margin of the template.
- You need to design both side of the postcard (front and back). 
- Please follow the requirement resolution mentioned in the branding guideline section because this postcard needed to be printed.

Requirement: 

Front side:
- TopCoder logo needs to be at the top of the card. Feel free to put this on the top right or top left in your design. What do you think best is welcomed.
- The title : "6 Important Ways Crowdsourcing is Different than Outsourcing". Feel free to explore your ideas how to design this title since this needs to be prominent on the postcard.
- www.topcoder.com (with underlined) must be at the bottom of this side. See the pdf attached as an example.
- These 3 sections below must be included in the front side of the postcard along with each graphics/icons representing each section.

- Per Hour Vs. Per Output
Add this text below the section title: "The shift from a labor-based model to an outcomes based model is really a re-envisioning of how work gets done and ultimately how you pay for that work."
We need a compelling graphics/icons representing this section in the postcard design.  
- The Elimination of a Single Point of Failure
Add this text below the section title: "
Human beings fail. Perhaps they slept poorly the night before or missed a train this morning. Whatever the reason, delays and negative impacts in productivity on an individual level drive up costs and extend time-lines on projects."

- The Scope of Work

- The Acceleration of Innovation

Branding Guidelines:
Color : Open to designer, but all colors must be in CMYK for printing format.
Fonts : Open to designer, Please be aware of font delivery requirement.
Size :  the size of the post card should be 5x7 inch in 300dpi minimum resolution, please see the provided template
Icons : All icons/graphic design elements must be create using your own effort, keep the gradient to a minimum level since this is going to be printed.

- Proper implementation of features outlined in the requirement section.

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it. You are free to resize or crop your submission to fit this size, but do not add any filters or elements for dramatic effect, such as drop shadows or reflections.

Submission File
Low resolution JPG or PNG of your layout within the provided template.

Source Files
All original source VECTOR files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and saved as layered AI or EPS files.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
