Challenge Summary

Welcome to the Squid2 Series contest, this series is about running 7 more UI design contests over the next two months to build and innovate the User Experience of the Squids Application. At the end of this contest series, we will be giving away a $1,000 bonus to who ever win the most overall prize money for Squids2 studio contests, starting with this contest.

SQuIDS is an existing application used to support test case creation / planning / resulting and defect management (primarily). The goal of this project is to give it a more professional appearance and allow the interaction with the components to be more efficient and natural for the end users.

For this contest, we are looking for some creative Design Concept of the Test Case Creation page. We have already have the storyboard for the Squids2 application and we just want to apply this storyboard to your creative design concept in designing this particular page. The idea is to replace the Excel upload and making the user work directly on the tool itself.

At the end of this contest, the client is expecting to have a great Design Concept of the Test Case Creation page.

Round 1

1) Initial storyboard design with all the requirements mentioned below
2) Any note for the client about your submission
3) Number your submission (01, 02, 03, etc...) for easy client's review

Round 2

1) Final storyboard design with all the requirements mentioned below
2) Any note for the client about your submission
3) Number your submission (01, 02, 03, etc...) for easy client's review

The primary goal of this contest is to re-design the Test Case Creation page of SQuIDS application based on the provided HTML wireframe, storyboard, and with the features outlined below.

The wireframe is provided for reference only for you to have a grasp of the application functionalities, we DON'T want you to copy exactly the layout of the page BUT think of innovating the Test Case Creation page that will be easy for the user to use.

Your submission should follow the general look and feel of the provided storyboard.

Requirements

  • This contest is about the re-designing one page called the Test Case Creation page. You are only required to create this single page but you are very much welcome to create supporting screens to showcase your idea/concept design. The page section need to just be a datasheet layout (i.e. Like Excel with validation or a SharePoint list in datasheet mode). It should have all the normal datasheet functionality like:
    - Drag-and-Drop
    - Find and Replace
    - Sorting/Filtering
    - Insert rows
    - Move columns around
    - Color cells
    - Copy and Paste
    - and other functionalities that you can add or suggest

  • Users would then need to be able to save their work to finish at a later time. So, there would need to be a section that allowed them to retrieve their saved drafts. We want them to have the flexibility that they do today in the import form excel but in SQuIDS.

  • Users should be able to customize the datasheet with the following features:
    - add additional fields
    - change the order that they appear in the grid
    - any other customization that you can suggest.

Reference

- initial Test Case creation screens are provided for your reference BUT this would need to be redesigned. We would need to remove the current Test Case creation storyboard pages and replace it with your new design as outlined in the Requirements section.

Branding Guidelines
- follow the provided storyboard design
- logo is out of scope, you need to use the provided storyboard's logo

Target Audience
- Internal Resources
- Potential Customer

Judging Criteria
- Our main concern is to get great user Experience of Squids Application.
