Challenge Summary
Welcome to another TopCoder site design contest. We’re glad to introduce this challenge to our great design community, the TopCoder Events Page. We need you to design this page using a defined layout. It’s very basic and simple.
Round 1
For your R1 deliverables please submit all screens you consider necessary to show your solution.
Round 2
Final design will contain all screens you consider necessary to show your solution plus any updates from client feedback.
The primary goal of this contest is to design the look and feel of the TopCoder Events Page. We’re looking for a fresh and modern look, according to the NEW design of the TopCoder sites (you’ll see attached).
TopCoder Events Page will host a set of links of the existing events held by TopCoder during the year. All TopCoder events have their own individual site (already working, won’t be designed here). This page will be a portal to those existing sites, displaying short information and links to those events sites. There’s a very rough mock up attached for reference, but it’s just REFERENCE, there’s nothing written on stone yet. We want you to put thoughts on this, to browse the sites and think in a smart way to group the TopCoder events in one single page.
Branding and Guidelines
- Use the new TopCoder look graphic guidelines (attached) as reference for your designs (icons, layout, colors).
- Use TopCoderEventsBase.PSD as base for your work. Don’t modify the header, footer or background.
- Use web-safe fonts for the page/s content.
- Your design must fit 1024 pixels wide screen resolution.
- Colors are open to designers but keep in mind the current overall the new TopCoder look.
- The design must be something simple, don’t overthink this.
Storyboard Design Requirements
- Use the TopCoder Events logo attached (replace the webinar one).
- Remove the search bar.
- The head area will work the same as displayed in the sample (upcoming events slides). It will display three upcoming TopCoder events, nearest from a chronological perspective. Instead of having a “Register” button it will be “Attend to event” or “View more details”. We could probably get rid of the image placeholder and use a logo from the upcoming event. Think of a nice solution.
- Show two versions of this site for the head area. One with the calendar and another one without the calendar (make the proper adjustments).
- “Our Events” area will display the grouped information/links of the events TopCoder hosts. You are encouraged to think in another title for this section (please). We need you to think in a simple way to group the events, either if it’s grid, list, etc. Also, we want the users to be able to see the history or archived editions of all the events, in order to provide access to all the events held by TopCoder.
- These are all the events sites of TopCoder you need to represent (browse and get familiar with them, feel free to use the sites logos, etc):
- TopCoder Open http://community.topcoder.com/tco12: Besides the current TCO site you can find here a bit of history for past events.
- TopCoder Roadshow http://www.topcoder.com/roadshow: check the two attached editions for imagery.
- TopCoder Innovation Summit - http://www.topcoder.com/innovation-summit: only one edition so far.
- TopCoder Customer Round Table - http://www.topcoder.com/customer-roundtable: it had a previous edition held in Chicago, May 15th.
