Challenge Overview

Employee Services Help Icon for Mac OS

Purpose: To provide an easy access menu for selecting IT Service Desk Options. It should always be available in the Application Bar (?) on Mac. It’s Windows equivalent already exists (see image below), it’s an Windows Form application written in VB.NET that runs minimized in the system tray as a context menu.  The menu is available via a right or left click.  

Requirements: The application should be available on OS start, it CAN have an exit option, and it can be removed if desired.

The functionality of the items include 5 Hyperlinks (See image for reference):

·          Submit a request via the Service Desk Website (1)

·          Initiate a chat session for help, this link also appends the logged in user id to the URL to start the session via a browser (3)

·          Search for answers via the Knowledge Base (4)

·          Open link to current IT requests via the web browser (6)

·          Provide Feedback to IT via a Google Form via the link (8)

These links require authentication with the users company credentials.

Native functionality includes:

·          Email the Service Desk, Populate the user field with the User’s logged in credentials, must have the ability to include attachments (2)

·          Service Desk Phone numbers,  this displays an world map with the respective Service Desk phone numbers (5)

·          My Computer Information, displays Computer name, User name, Domain and IP Address, must have the capability to copy this information to the clipboard (7)

·          An About window with application information, version, etc (9)

·          Exit or Close (10)

 

Timeline: We would like the application to be deliverable in 4- 6 weeks.
