Challenge Summary

Welcome to "Cessnav" iPad Apps Rebranding Contest. We recently ran a contest to define the branding and user interface elements for the main Cessna Marketing iPad Apps, In this contest, we need your help in identifying and then designing the different brand elements that can be used consistently across ALL Cessna Calculator (Cessnav) Apps. The Cessnav apps are the calculators that are mainly used by the pilots within a plane's cockpit. For this contest we need you to review the provided PSD resources and start updating/adjusting the Cessnav apps to work with the new UI elements

We eventually want to rebrand all of the "Cessnav" mobile apps but we are going to start with analyzing and designing the "CLCalc and CPCalc Apps".

Round 1

Initial page designs to provide feedback on your design decisions
- CLCalc Home (landscape)
- CLCalc loading (landscape)
- CLCalc Graph (landscape)
- CPCalc Home (landscape)
- CPCalc Takeoff (landscape)
- CPCalc Options (landscape)

Notes.jpg: Any comments about your design for the Client
NUMBER YOUR SCREENS (01, 02, 03 etc.) - it’s easier to review with the client.

Round 2

Final Designs with the feedback applied as suggested by the client
- CLCalc Home (landscape and portrait)
- CLCalc loading (landscape and portrait)
- CLCalc Graph (landscape and portrait)
- CPCalc Home (landscape and portrait)
- CPCalc Takeoff (landscape and portrait)
- CPCalc Options (landscape and portrait)

Cessnav apps are mainly used by the pilots. For this contest you need to identify and design consistent elements (header, navigations styles, etc...See below for more possible elements) that can be used across different Cessnav iPad Apps. The Client has given their likes/dislikes about the Cessnav iPad apps that exist today. (Attached).

We ran a contest to get the branding elements for Cessna Marketing iPad Apps. We need you to take the results of that contest and incorporate branding and UI elements into the Cessnav apps. The goal is to make everything belong in the same Cessna branding "family" while still keeping the functional and layout needs of the calculater (cessnav) apps.

Design Requirements:
In this contest:
1) You should analyze the Clients likes/dislikes about their existing Calculator (Cessnav) Applications.
2) Analyze what YOU like/dislike and plan what a new user interface should look like for the Calculator Applications.
3) Review the provided Cessna Marketing iPad App design and what design items should you include in the Cessnav apps?
4) Apply your design ideas to the CLCalc App and CPCalc App using what your assessed from the provided resources

IMPORTANT:
- The form fields need to be big enough to prevent errant tapping and the color scheme needs to be easy to see in an airplane cockpit environment.
- Make sure that forms have ease of use and visual contrast.
- We're looking for design ideas that would provide a more custom look over the typical iOS standards, but still maintain these two important requirements.
- Plan your designs for retina display. So please create your designs for 2048 X 1536 resolution.

Screens:
We have shared three screens from each of the Cessnav Applications (CLCalc and CPCalc) - We do not have any source files for these as these current screens were done directly done while programming, you are free to re-design the pages.

Some comments about the existing UI
#1 CLCalc Home:
- For a pilot to use this calculator application they need to have subscription. The aircraft listed in the aircraft selection pop-up will only be the ones that the pilot has a subscription for.
- Initially all the icons - Loading, Graph and Options are disabled (see CLCalc Home screen image) - after you select an aircraft, it will unlock the tabs.
Make sure your navigation design includes both enabled and disabled styles.

#2 CLCalc loading:
- This screen has a lot of form elements. Identify all the individual form elements and make sure it can be consistently used across all Cessnav apps.
- The form fields need to be big enough to prevent errant tapping and the color scheme needs to be easy to see in an airplane cockpit environment.
- Make sure that forms have ease of use and visual contrast.

#3 CLCalc Graph:
- This screen contain form elements, when entered dynamically generates a graph
- The graph is dynamically generated based on provided data through a library called core-plot (http://code.google.com/p/core-plot/). It's not a requirement that you need to create a chart with this, but it would be possible for you to use the documentation to familiarize yourselves with its rendering capabilities. This would help us greatly when we implement the final design changes.

#4 CPCalc Home Screen:
- In the CPCalc app, we would like something like the jet selector (see attached), but again, there could potentially only be 1 aircraft in it based off their subscription.

#5 CPCalc Options:
- In this screen, we have toggle buttons (ON/OFF), table and Tabs.

#6 CPCalc Takeoff screen:
- The exclamation icon is a validation icon indicating when the field doesn't contain a valid entry. If there's another icon that depicts that better because sometimes it can be easily confused with an "information" icon, so we are open to changes.

Possible elements that can be made consistent across Apps:
Analyze the different applications and their design elements. What can be reused or updated to create a "brand"?

Form Elements Styling
The form fields need to be big enough to prevent errant tapping and the color scheme needs to be easy to see in an airplane cockpit environment. Make sure that forms have ease of use and visual contrast.
- Button types and sizes: Call to Action buttons (Primary / Secondary buttons…)
- Font selection and sizes
- Main Navigation Styles
- Usage of Icons (wherever you feel it is required, please design them)
- Formalize the usage of colors across Apps
- Consistent Header
- pop-up styling (Modals)
- Tabs
- Toggle Buttons (ON/OFF)
- Pagination
- Search icons if any
- Anything else you feel is necessary.

Branding and UI Elements:
Cessnav iPad App Source file and Images
- Note the dark blue navigation and the contrast
- Note the subtle logo
- Note the font usage
- Note the icon treatments
What items make sense to carry through into the Cessnav Apps?

Target Audience:
- Existing Pilots
- New Pilots

Judging Criteria:

- Cleanliness of the UI elements!!
- Consistency in designing the elements
- How well you design based on client likes/dislikes.
