Challenge Summary
We’re very excited to bring a new challenge to the community. We need to design a stunning eBook for a particular manner of TopCoder. We’re looking forward to see editorial worthy designs, with a modern touch and the sharpness that identifies the new TopCoder website. In this contest you need to design a few pages only. Welcome and join!
Round 1
Deliver the following screen for a review:
- Introduction page
- Logistics Section Pages (show at least one burning question with its answers)
- Fragment “Let’s Define It”
Round 2
As final round deliver all of the required screens from the "Design Requirements" section, plus client feedback.
The goal of this contest is to design the content pages of the TopCoder eBook. We already have the covers and one inner page that we’re providing here. You’ll be designing the content pages, some graphics and merging that with the existing design.
TopCoder is the thought leader on getting problems solved via Crowdsourcing and Open Innovation. This book helps to showcase our knowledge about EOI (Enterprise Open Innovation) and do so in a clean, fun, educational way; in other words, we don’t want it to be boring.
An eBook can be presented in several known formats; we’re using common PDF for our eBook which will be available on the TopCoder website for download.
Overall, it needs to be clean, easy to read, to provide beautiful fonts, smart use of fonts. We do NOT need a lot of text to fill up an eBook. It is NOT a whitepaper, it is NOT academic research. It is meant to be light and to the point.
Branding Guidelines
- Use the provided template 5.5" x 7.5". Make sure to follow the margin guidelines.
- Use the provided source files of the current design as visual reference for your work.
- Fonts are open to the designer. Please be aware of font delivery requirements. Be wise when choosing your fonts, we want to see nice typography, playing with the sizes. If you have issues with missing fonts used in the current design place a note notifying you don’t have the font and replace it with another one, you’ll be asked to replace it afterwards if you become the winner.
- Overall graphics should feel like the TopCoder website. Avoid black or dark colors as a predominant color. We’re open to various color schemes. Think of monochromatic, simple, elegant, but don’t be afraid of color.
Design Requirements
Overall updates
- Number all pages properly starting from the table of content (Page 1).
- Order all the pages. First the front cover, then introduction, followed by table of content, the new pages and last the back cover.
Introduction Page
- Refer page #1 from the attached word document.
- The content on this page shouldn’t take more than 2 ebook pages.
- Create a graphic that shows the “Logistics, Execution, Growth” elements around the TopCoder platform.
Logistics Section Pages
- Refer pages #2 - 6 from the attached word document.
- Use as many pages as you need to show all this content.Make good use of spacing and text formatting. It must be clean and easy to read.
- Enclose “Logistic - How does crowdsourcing work?” in a good looking/attractive header section that works for all of the other sections.
- Each burning question title should begin at a new page.
- You can design icons/graphics to identify the page questions, answers, etc. Since that will be the same format used for the other sections it would be nice to have consistent formats to use.
Fragment “Let's Define It”
- Design a piece of content placeholder for important things like hints or short notes explaining things briefly. We envision this as a bold section that highlights something that needs to be defined. It should be offset on the page and grab the eye (at first glance).
- Use “Let’s Define It” as title for this section.
- Use “lorem ipsum” text to fill the section content.
- Pick any page (s) you want to show this attractive fragment.

This eBook is targeted at Companies Director and Executives. Overall, anyone interested to know about Crowdsourcing and who is doing Open Innovation in the right way.
