Challenge Summary

Welcome to OPM Wireframes Contest. We recently ran part one for this contest and we need you to create HTML wireframes to complete the representation of an existing desktop application as HTML.

The primary goal of this contest is to create HTML wireframes based on an existing desktop application. This contest is not typical, in that we want you to COPY the desktop application, and make NO improvements. Just get it as close as possible so that your wireframes match the application exactly. No new features or improvements are required, and at this time, we do not want them. If your submission includes new features or improvements, it will be disqualified.

It would be good for you to know our development strategy for this project. We’re first going to copy the desktop application into wireframes (this current contest). After we get these initial wireframes we’ll round up the features and requirements with the client and launch another wireframes contest afterwards to make improvements, and turn the wireframes into web application wireframes (versus desktop application wireframes).

Recently we ran a contest to get some of the screens of the application. You need to use that work as basis, see OPMInitialWireframes.zip attached.

Notice there is not a conceptualization document attached in this contest. Instead we provide access to a VM (Virtual Machine - remote server connection) with a working demo from the existing application and recorded videos that explain how the current application works. You need to capture the application features and data (as best as you can).

About OPM
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has an existing legacy application called the Service Credit Redeposit/Deposit System (SCRD) that is in charge of the management of the retirement plan monetary benefits system.

Accounts are established for federal employees for periods of federal employment that are either not covered by retirement deductions (deposits), or were covered and later refunded (re-deposits).

The SCRD application computes deposits and re-deposits, create an initial bill, post payments, and send out receipts to federal employees for periods of federal employment service that were either not covered by retirement deductions (deposits), or were covered and later refunded by the federal government (re-deposits).

SCRD Application on VM

We have a copy of the application running on a virtual machine (VM). You will need to use a remote desktop connection tool in order to enter the VM and use the existing SCRD application. In order to gain access, please email the PM at rsial@topcoder.com. If you need assistance on the connection don’t hesitate to ask in forums.
- See how to connect to a VM using Windows OS instructions.
- See how to connect to a VM using MAC OS instructions. You could use MS Office's RDC too.

General Requirements
- Produce HTML click-through wireframes that are as close as possible to the actual working SCRD application. The wireframes will be based on the demo recording walk-through (download and watch all 6 videos), and the SCRD application running on the VM. As optional resource, there are application screenshots attached (SCRD_Screenshots.zip).
- Read SCRD_Application_Walkthrough_Test.doc (section 2, desktop application functionality) to get an idea in details of the application data.
- The design should be simple, user-friendly and easy to understand. Avoid over populating spaces with too many form elements.
- Develop as many pages/elements you need to complete all the requirements.

Wireframes Requirements
There are several user roles in this application. For now, we’re focusing on the Admin User role which has access to all the application features. Check the basic features brief you should cover in this contest (scope):

Help
- User should be able to have access to a typical help center that shows a user-guide, tips and topics about the application.

Work Queue
- Samples can be seen from screenshots #15 - #18.

Correspondence
- Sample can be seen in screenshot #19.

Reference
- Sample can be seen in screenshot #20.

Reports
- Sample can be seen in screenshot #21.

Suspense
- Samples can be seen from screenshots #22 - #23.

Tools and Admin features from Global Menu
- Samples can be seen from screenshots #26 - #27.
- This should cover Service Credit Preferences, Search Payments, Reprint Forms, User Permissions Management, Approve Pending Payments, Approve Interest Adjustments, Approve Pending Moves.

By the end of the contest you should provide a complete solution that contains the already wireframed screens (from the provided attachment) and these new screens.

Target Audience
The main users of this web application will be financial planners and government employees.

Judging Criteria
- Capability to capture and represent the application features.
- User experience..

Submission File
