Challenge Summary

Welcome to the TCO13's Poster Design Contest to Help Girls into STEM Mini-site Storyboard Contest! The goal of this mini-site is to entice other designers (TC/Studio member or not), to design a poster about encouraging the youth of today to tap into an unknown talent they may possess and pursue that talent to grow and prosper to develop the next awesome technology of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Designers then submit their "poster design" in this mini-site. This mini-site will be hosted inside the TCO13 site under Win TCO Trips page.    

Your task is to create the most awesome mini-site that rocks! You will design about five (5) screens ( 5 screens that are combined into 1 long page, the details will be discussed in the Requirement section ). This mini-site will be marketed and promoted to other designers or to anyone 18 years old or older ( does not have to be a TC or Studio member ) in the hope that they will get interested in participating in Studio. Make your design appealing to other designer, think about what would attract you to compete in this contest.

1) Initial submission design with all the features mentioned in the Requirement section.

3) Number your submission (01, 02, 03, etc...) for easy client's review

Primary Goals
The primary goal of this contest is to design a mini-site that will encourage designers, regardless if TC/Studio member or not, to participate and submit in "Poster Design Contest to Help Girls into STEM". Make your design appealing to other designer, think about what would attract you to compete in this contest. 

Requirements
Design the mini-site with the following requirements:

  • Page Size
    - this page will reside inside the Win TCO Trips page, see the provided placeholder.png's red box for more details
    - the existing content area where your design will be placed is fluid/elastic, you should take that in consideration and your design should comfortably fit in with the sizes mentioned below
    - your minimum design width should be 688px and maximum of 1300px
    - there's no limit with height requirement 
     
  • Navigation
    - the inspiration on how the mini-site navigation works is hackforchange.org
    - the mini-site navigation items are: Overview | The Problem | Contest Details | Submit | FAQs
    - when user click on any item, it will scroll down to a particular section of the page instead of making page reload
    - when the page scrolls down, the mini-site navigation bar will then get docked at the top of the content area ( the red box from the provided placeholder.png ) 
     
  • Content
    The following are the content of the mini-site: 
    1. Overview:
      - the content for this section is at the provided "PD Home.docx"
      - at the very top will be a large banner with title "Poster Design Contest to Help Girls into STEM $10,000 in prizes!"
      - beneath the large banner will be a video embed
      - there will be no logo for this competition 
       

    2. The Problem:
      - include the title of this section
      - this section will have a paragraph of content at the top, use dummy text for now
      - then beneath the paragraph will be an embedded infographic coming from http://www.ncwit.org/infographic/3435
      - there's an embed coded from that page, you can actually use screenshot for this embedded infographic section    
       

    3. Contest Details:
      - include the title of this section
      - this will the section about the contest specification

      - the content for this section is from the provided "Poster Contest Spec.docx" 
       

    4. Submit:
      - include the title of this section
      - this is the section for submitting design
      - the content and required fields are in the provided "Submit for the Poster Design Contest.doc" 
       

    5. FAQs:
      - include the title of this section
      - use dummy text for the content in a Q/A format

What to Submit
Preview JPG/PNG Image File
Please create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024px JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it, you may use the provided placeholder.png and place a screenshot of your design in the content area.

Submission ZIP File
All requested contest requirements/screens as JPG or PNG files.

Source ZIP File
All fully editable original source files of the submitted design as required by the contest under "Source Files" in the side bar.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to complete one round of minor changes to ensure your submission meets the stated requirements of this contest. See more information about Final Fixes.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • New to Studio? ‌Learn how to compete here
  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
