This project will be to make improvements to the game engine. The initial budget will be 30k for all member prizes, but if all goes well we will continue beyond 30K. The goal for the first 30K is to deliver one area of tangible functionality, even if it's relatively small, by May 15. The results of the project may be highlighted at the Rational Innovate conference in the first week of June. This is not a business/IT system or a product, so there is more flexibility than normal.
The customer has a wish list of features / updates to make to the enging covering areas like social integration, build, play modes, mobile, and testing. An initial set user stories to focus on is attached with more details.
Competitors should make sure they address:
1. What needs to be done to ensure TopCoder community is up to speed on software, i.e. can develop, build, deploy, and test game engine.
2. Address client's desire for frequent incremental releases and negotitation of requirements as mentioned above. (Should be Agile-like, but doesn't need to strictly follow any Agile process.)
3. Ensure deliverability of solution (testing, qa, deployment)
Additional ideas about how to engage the TopCoder community, use TopCoder platform, or broader application of the game are welcome as suggestions and will improve copilot submission, but will not replace meeting the core criteria above.
