Challenge Overview
We would like to have a browser plugin/extension(chrome and possibly firefox) created that can add some custom functionality to event colors in google calendar events. Currently calendar events can be customized with 11 differenct predefined colors to allow them to be categorized. This allows events to be grouped into different categories based on a color scheme. We would like a browser extension where these custom colors could be configured and helpful text could be added to each color. An extension widget would allow configuration of mapping the different colors to strings of text. When configured, the extension would intercept and handle calls to pick custom event colors when creating or editing an event. Instead of just showing the colors it would show colors along with their associated text. This would allow users to add text categories to calendar events (eg: 1 on 1 meetings, staff meetings, project meetings, etc...) and not have to remember which color is being used for each category when creating or editing a new event.
