Welcome to 2013 TopCoder Open Animation Video Presentation Design Contest I

TopCoder is very excited to do our Premier TCO event! This year we need to design an animation video presentation that tells about the American STEM problem and what the TCO13 will be about to our NEW target audiences:
- Government officials in US (even the US President possibly!)
- Possible clients of TopCoder
- Sponsors of TopCoder
- Corporations and government offices in the DC area

This is the 1st contest to get storyboards designed on required slides, and as part task of this contest you need show us how animation effects works!

Round 1

Your submission video slides for our reviews, for the design sizes please use 1024 x 576px
- You can submit some initial design, but it will be great if you can submit all slides for R1 submission.

Round 2

All of the requested deliverables plus a notes file for review, for the design sizes please use 1024 x 576px
This includes all the screens with the required content, as well as any additional screens/content you wish to add.


This year, we want to make video presentation that explains the American STEM problem at the same time we introduce TopCoder.
In this contest you need design the storyboard of the required slides and also suggest to us how the animation effects look by refering to our expected video animation samples.

Animation Video Presentation Requirements
- This presentation will have a voiceover slide by slide. (TopCoder Open Video Scripts.docx)
- Animation Video timeline: ~1 minute 30 seconds.
- Animation Video Sizes: 1024 x 576px.

- Check attached TCO13 Graphics to help you design the video themes (Logo, Banner, Pages Storyboard and Prototype)
- FYI: There will be subtle music as video animation background that will build in development.
- This presentation will be developed as Flash Animation, or equivalent application for transitions and animations.
- Design latest/up-to-date animation effects like blur, easing in/out, view graphics in 3d perspective, smooth moving, text transition, zoom in/out etc.
- Fonts are open to the designer with the exception of the Bank Gothic font. Please be aware of font delivery requirements.
- Colors are open to the designer.

Animation Video Presentation Details (part 1)
- Create separate storyboard screens for these required scripts.
- Create flow design how animations should playing (Create as many details as possible as to how the animation effects work. It will help the animators build your solution.)
- On this contest you just need focus created design solution on Page 1 of TopCoder Open Video Scripts.docx

Judging Criteria
- Uniqueness and Creativity of your storyboard design
- Possible to build as Animation Presentation.
- Clear guides how animation and effects should build.
- The smoothness/innovativeness of the transitions and how the information is displayed.
- Execution of your submission.

Contest Deliverables
Submission File

All requested Contest Deliverables in JPG or PNG file format in RGB color mode at 72dpi.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design created as layered PSD or AI files.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify colors or fonts.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
