Welcome to NASA IT Labs - Banner contest

IT Labs is gaining notoriety within the NASA Community as an innovative program that can and has successfully leveraged existing work into new and novel IT-related solutions. Notably, IT Labs just received the FedScoop 50 Federal IT Program of the Year award and is positioning to become the hub of NASA IT innovation efforts. With the program gaining momentum, it is time to have a new face to capture IT Labs’ essence. 

In the end of this contest, we are looking for a fresh, professional and sophisticated banner for NASA IT Labs.


Primary Goal:
The goal of this contest is to design a sophisticated and professional banner for NASA IT Labs. This banner will help promote NASA IT Labs and draw additional interest, so make sure your banner is eye catching and have professional look. 

Banner Requirement:
--NASA IT Labs Logo should be put on the banner.
--The placement of the Logo is up to you. We are welcome to any ideas for your best judgment where to put the logo on the banner.
--This small text/link should appear on the banner : "labs.nasa.gov"
Feel free where to put this on the banner, but keep in mind that this text not have to be very prominent.
--Graphical illustration, we need a professional graphical illustration on the banner. Make it appealing. Some information that may inspire you are:
Information Technology
Innovation
Collaboration
Bright
Creativity
Central Hub
Community 
Efficient
Agile

Take a look at the COECI banner at this client site. The client is currently looking for something like this. But be sure to make it more appealing and professional.

Important notes:
- Feel free to add any graphics you create yourself to support your banner design. Make it stand out and appealing.
- Bring us your creativity when creating the design for this banner. No restriction! 
- Please note that we need something professional, awesome and eye-catching!

Branding Guidelines:
Size: 900 x 140 px
Fonts: Fonts are open to the designer, But we encourage you to choose and use web safe font. Please be aware of font delivery requirement.
Color: Open to the designer, but please keep in mind to complement the NASA IT Labs Logo colors. Your colors must work and eye catching.

Target Audience:
- Employees of other federal agencies
- General public (adults).

Judging Criteria:
Your submission will be judged on the following:
- Requirements: Does your banner meet the requirements as stated in the specification? 
- Quality:  Does your banner look fresh, professional, and clean?   
- Concept:  Does your banner complement the logo?

Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPEG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submissions within it.

All requested Contest Requirements stated above in PNG files. 
IMPORTANT - If you are submitting "small updates or changes" with multiple submissions please include in your notes file what is different or changed - this can be confusing to the client sometimes when they can't tell what is different.

Source Files
All requested Contest Requirements stated above in PSD/AI files.

Final Fixes 
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your design.

Please read the challenge specification carefully and watch the forums for any questions or feedback concerning this challenge. It is important that you monitor any updates provided by the client or Studio Admins in the forums. Please post any questions you might have for the client in the forums.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.

Screening:

All submissions are screened for eligibility before the challenge holder picks winners. Don't let your hard work go to waste. Learn more about how to  pass screening.
