Welcome to 2013 TopCoder Open Video Presentation After Effects Creation Contest

TopCoder is very excited to do our Premier TCO event, this year we need to show animation video presentation tells about American STEM problem and what the TCO13 will be about to our NEW target audiences:
- Government officials in US (even the US President possibly!)
- Possible clients of TopCoder
- Sponsors of TopCoder
- Corporations and government offices in the DC area

In this continuation contest we need your skills to create video animation using Adobe After Effects software but still stick with our provided storyboard guidelines.
This is new contest type on TopCode Studio, in the future we might do more contests in use After Effect.
So, impress us with what you can do with After Effects software!

Contest Details
This year, we want to make video presentation that explains Government Officials about American STEM problem and at the same time introduce TopCoder to them.
We just got our completed storyboard and the screen flow in previous contest, this time we need to build the video using Adobe After Effects software. Read details requirements for each screen below:

Animation Video Presentation Requirements
-You need build transitions and effects for each required screens using After Effects CS5.5 or later.
- Download Storyboard-Design.zip, it contains animation flow and effects guidelines.
- The effects on storyboard is starting point to help you create expected the transitions and effect. But, We're encourage you to suggest us better ideas/solutions.
- Music for the video and the voiceover will be added after this contest.
- Graphics and Color need remain consistent like provided storyboard.
- Your video submission need to be pixel precision like provided storyboard.
- Be aware the usage of font typography for each areas. Make sure they are consistent. Let us know if you need some required fonts.
- In some slide it need use TCO12 photos: https://topcoder.com/home/tco12/photos/ (Do not use video, just grab photos)
- Before you create the video animation, make sure you prepare correct format for .ai file to be more friendly with Adobe After Effects. Here's the reference: http://www.jamesmerry.co.uk/home/?p=388
- You need adjust graphics on .ai file to meet our expected size(Refer to Storyboard-Design-1920-1080.zip)

Animation Video Formats
- After Effects project settings should be 1920x1080 with frame rate of 29.97 or 59.94 (NTSC)
- Final Deliverable Export Resolution: Quicktime 1920x1080 29.97, lossless Animation
- Channels: RGB
- Preview files compressed to H.264 Resize 240x135 (Uncheck maintain aspect ratio). A 30 sec video will be 5MB in size at this resolution.   
- Audio files included. Preferably .wav files       
- All Layers/Adjustment Layers must be included
- Any 3rd party effects must be included and declared

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to fix some required screens.

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.
