Welcome to “EPA Android App – Mobile UI Storyboard Design Contest”.  This contest purpose is to create look and feel for EPA android application using our mobile wireframes as references. At the end of this contest, we are looking for a clean, fresh and user friendly storyboard that are ready to be built into development phase and easily to be expand on most screen resolutions supported by android devices. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has asked TopCoder to build an Android app that will inform local and federal policy makers about the proliferation of a type of water pollution called cyanobacteria. The app will display past and current data about cyanobacterial concentrations and show predictions based on an algorithmic model that is being developed separately by TopCoder. In this contest, we need your help to create look and feel for the application using our wireframes as references, please check below for more details about screen requirements :

Screen Requirements :

Design Requirements :

-    Orientation : Please follow wireframes orientation (Portrait View only)
-    Guidelines : Android design guidelines http://developer.android.com/design/index.html
-    Font        : Use Android default font.
-    Color        : Up to designer, but make it professional.
-    Size        : 1920x1080px in 441ppi, Targetting android phone but with capability to b expand/resize into less or bigger screen size,  http://developer.android.com/design/style/devices-displays.html
-    Put the EPA logo in your header and use the logo color as your references.

Notes Regarding Size Requirements :
1. Main focus as per clients is on phone. Hence the design should definitely look perfect on a phone. At the same time, it should have capability to extend/resize its size if used on tablet. But the overall look should be much more adapted to phone. For tablets, same design should just be expanded.    
2. For icons creation, make sure it can be re-use in both phone and tablet devices. icons created in illustrator is preferable.

Users of Mobile App (e.g, local decision makers, people from scientific community)

Judging Criteria
Your submission will be judged on the following criteria:
-    How well your design follows Android Standards specifically the smartphone.
-    How professional your UI is designed, consistent, clean and creative.
-    How well your design can be expand into bigger screens.

Submission & Source Files
Preview Image
Create your preview image as one (1) 1024x1024 JPG or PNG file in RGB color mode at 72dpi and place a screenshot of your submission within it.

Submission File
Please upload PNG 24-bit images in a zip file with all requested contest requirements stated above.

Source Files
All original source files of the submitted design. Files should be created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and saved as layered PSD/AI files.

Final Fixes
As part of the final fixes phase you may be asked to modify your graphics, images (sizes or colors) or modify overall colors.

Stock Photography

Stock photography is not allowed in this challenge. All submitted elements must be designed solely by you. See this page for more details.

How To Submit

  • Upload your submission in three parts (Learn more here). Your design should be finalized and should contain only a single design concept (do not include multiple designs in a single submission).
  • If your submission wins, your source files must be correct and “Final Fixes” (if applicable) must be completed before payment can be released.
  • You may submit as many times as you'd like during the submission phase, but only the number of files listed above in the Submission Limit that you rank the highest will be considered. You can change the order of your submissions at any time during the submission phase. If you make revisions to your design, please delete submissions you are replacing.

Winner Selection

Submissions are viewable to the client as they are entered into the challenge. Winners are selected by the client and are chosen solely at the client's discretion.

Submission format

Your Design Files:

  1. Look for instructions in this challenge regarding what files to provide.
  2. Place your submission files into a "Submission.zip" file.
  3. Place all of your source files into a "Source.zip" file.
  4. Declare your fonts, stock photos, and icons in a "Declaration.txt" file.
  5. Create a JPG preview file.
  6. Place the 4 files you just created into a single zip file. This will be what you upload.

Fonts, Stock Photos, and Icons:

All fonts, stock photos, and icons within your design must be declared when you submit. DO NOT include any 3rd party files in your submission or source files. Read about the policy.
